I have bad news if he wants to sit in my passenger seat. I have a $250 portable fridge strapped to it. I can, however, open the window if he wants to hang off the door while we have our professional discussion. I have always thought it was stupid for a DOT cop to do inspections on the side of the interstate.

“He pulled me over for no reason”…
    “breaking my constitutional rights”……
“I’ve been watching a lot of videos “…..
“ I can tell the cop to literally F off”…..
    “I’ll get an attitude “…..
    “ can I sue”……

Good luck with that outlook on life and your job.

    Learned early in life -

You can be the rock in the river, or the water that flows past, and around it.

I keep my doors locked just to see the look on their faces when they hurt their hands lol. My truck is my property and it's not open for warrantless searches.

I've had them try once when I was driving a tow truck. I got out like they demanded and then I shut and locked the doors behind me. They did NOT like that. This was at the 301 scale in MD. Lots of threats were made. A state trooper was called to the scene with a K9. I eventually left unsearched and not ticketed for anything.

They tried the Good Cop/Bad Cop routine. I explained I wasn't trying to give them a hard time but my rights are more important than your feelings.

Your company can fire you for anything they want. You need to ask yourself what's matters most to you and stand up for it 100 percent regardless of consequence. It's not fun and it's usually painful but you're the one who has to live with yourself in the end.

Yeah - I get it. But,

I look at these guys doing the 'opposing' job - half the time they're kids . . . to me at least. And I'm only 47.

    "Yessir, what do you need . . . How can I help . . . Yup, it's crazy out here . . .Sure appreciate you doing what you do . . . You need a cold water or anything? . . . "

I could probably be smuggling nuns and get by most situations out here.

I’ve dealt with a few drivers who acted like this and fired every one of them.

    grow up a bit.

you work, by choice, is in an industry that is regulated, there are specific requirements by law that you have to deal with.

The cab is a work place, he doesn’t have to have your permission to enter it, the sleeper is a bit different but sitting in the passenger seat isn’t any where close to violating your fourth amendment rights.

He doesn’t have to give you a reason to pull you over for any reason. He has a job to do, maybe you are running legal and making his job easier makes your easier.

and if you have an attitude with him, be prepared for anything from getting put out of service to being arrested, they can make your life miserable.

as for YouTube videos, my lawyer has watched a lot of them, even from other lawyers and said a lot of it is very bad advice and has led people to think they have all these rights but they don’t because the common person doesn’t understand what laws and court cases are involved.

I'm respectful if they are. The ball is 100 percent in their court. Everyone's just trying to do their job. I get it. Respect my rights and we're all good.
