I want to be an o/o, running under my own authority. So, I'm curious about what happens when I have a load and I have a breakdown? And if you answer about load boards helping in that case, do they all do that and/or what do they do?
What happens to the load in case of a breakdown as an Owner Op?

There’s a few ways to get this done. I’m assuming breakdown is longer than a day or two.
1. Most tow companies will deliver the load for you if it’s relatively close by a couple hundred miles. Won’t be cheap.
2. Ask a friend with a truck to deliver the load.
3. Rent a truck. Peterbilt dealer near me makes it fast, under 30 min, and they charge $250/day.
4. When you notify broker of breakdown, if you ask, they will find another truck to make the delivery. It’s cheaper than option 1.Coffey, Suspect Zero, Boondock and 3 others Thank this. -

With Landstar - it’s put out on the SOS board. Other BCO’s may come and rescue, deliver and return the trailer.
It’s always a bad situation. Some guys will do you a favor - others will screw you for the entire revenue. LS rarely contributes.
You’re in a bad spot already, towing, repairs. Someone else completing your job, it’s gonna cost.
That’s the ‘leased on to a carrier’ perspective.Keepforgettingmypassword, Coffey, Opus and 5 others Thank this. -
