Buddy in Memphis, he's with LS now, ex-ODFL, his wife still works there - said she was told to take as much time off as she wanted to, paid or unpaid, and they were furloughing about 5% of the drivers there.
Said he had heard Fed Ex was doing the same - seems odd at what is typically peak season ?High Stepper, Old_n_gray, Radman and 2 others Thank this. -

If you work for a union carrier I’d file a grievance for the run around pay. No contractors should be moving before in house drivers. Every night a contractor goes out the gate before me I’d file on that run. ( Union carriers only) -
All these layoff talks are making me question if I should jump to LTL. I have an interview with ABF coming up. I doubt they'd be looking to hire if they were slowing down, unless they're severely understaffed.

I'm staying at Estes for the time being. We've slowed down, but you can still eat if you want. I plan on working this weekend and every day we are paid for the holidays essentially doubling up.
We get paid for the day before Thanksgiving, Thanksgiving, AND BLACK FRIDAY! I plan on working that weekend too if they let me. After that, I don't even care. -
