Got my CDL from costal almost exactly 1 year ago. Went to orientation with schneider and due to anxiety got terminated after refusing to drive during training due to not having my meds at the time. Have not had any luck otherwise with job offers.
In southern Louisiana near new Orleans, terrible employment history(3+ years unemployed), clean mvr, need training, and looking for something OTR preferably dry van or reefer. Mabye flatbed even but i’m more worried about learning to drive without learning to secure loads. The school taught me enough to pass the cdl test and still have lots to refine and tune.
Honestly was hoping to get on with CRST or Western(yes their reputation is mediocre but my employment history is bad so I'm willing to sacrifice) but even over an entire year they are not hiring in my area. I have applied to about 30 or so large companies and almost everyone i’m aware that takes students.
This far out of school is my cdl any use? ie. bite the bullet and get a regular job for a year to get some employment history. Or is there someone that might give me a chance?
thank you for reading or suggestions
after lurking for a bit I know chinatown is my buddy

Dude, at a minimum you have to do a refresher. No one will touch you without it.
Your best bet is to find someone who will hire you after the refresher.
Good luck.Seth0194, Puppage and austinmike Thank this. -

May Trucking has a terminal in Pensacola. You might be able to get on with them. That’s only around 2.5 to 3 hours away. But, once you get trained and get your own truck, you’d be able to keep it close to home on your home time.

If you deal with anxiety issues perhaps this isn’t a good career for you.

Something not adding up here. How did you go 3 years unemployed? Also what did Schneider put on your DAC ? If you are having mental health issues that you cant handle, you may want to seek some help.
Siinman, Numb, Stringb8n and 1 other person Thank this.
