When mine was way overdue for service, it would try to start, cough up a bunch of smoke, buck and sputter, stall, and it would only try to restart once, then throw an engine code (only visible for a few minutes) then just sit there and not try again.

Maybe 4-6 inches at most, mainly near the curb which I tried to stay away from. It never came close to being above my wheel hubs though.

Oh ok then the air filter housing didn't get full of water then ...how many hours does fcc service those units at ? , I have a carrier also and I service mine every 5 to 700 hours and have never seen the issue you've got .

I'm not sure. My unit has about 5400 hours on it or so. It never acted up before Friday, so I don't know if the flood water was deeper than I thought or if something else is wrong. Regardless, I just called Travis and told him I was going to be in Fremont later this afternoon. My truck needs it's regular service anyways.

Over where I work they want ours serviced every 1000 hours. When I picked this truck up it had well over 2000 hours on the APU, but nobody said anything about it NEVER having been serviced. I didn't find out it hadn't been serviced until around 2700 hours. Once it was serviced all it's sputtering and problems disappeared.

Could always be worse, last time it happened to me it was -10 and the plastic caps on the jump start terminals were frozen on. Took 10 minutes with the wife's hair dryer to get em off, then leave it running two days till I could get in for a new round of batteries..... I'd swing by one of the shops asap to get that apu looked at, batteries may be getting weak also, but it sounds like the apu wasn't able to run at all
