I abandoned a Covenant truck at their Indianapolis terminal in 2003. Got a ride back to Pittsburgh. Took them two weeks to call me. They asked if I was ready to roll. I guess they didn’t get the message. And who just lets someone have two weeks off without any permission or prior plans?

Poly Trucking does! I know a guy that used to leave his POV at the plant in Grand Prairie, TX. He got pissed at them once and when he got back to the yard, he took off for home in Alabama. He got offered a job at Raven out of Jacksonville, FL a week or so later. He was in their orientation for a day or so and decided they weren’t for him. He then proceeded to go back to Poly after another week or so, called them when he got there and got on the outbound board, got a load the next day, grabbed it and took off.

In total he was gone for THREE WEEKS and they never realized he was gone. Lol

Yup, and those idiots didn’t have a clue. He drove back from Alabama, got back in his truck and took off a day or so later on an outbound load. Lol

Wonder how they are with handing out load assignments.

It’s non-forced dispatch. You put yourself on the board. They have however many loads a day. If you’re first on the board and they have 11 loads, then you have 11 choices. If you’re 12th, you won’t get a load that day unless someone else ahead of you turns down the load(s) they’re offered.

But, as was the case here, he didn’t put himself on the outbound board when he returned. He loaded his POV and headed home to Alabama. Lol

Lol two weeks after I acrimoniously left Van Wyk those idiots called me two weeks later asking me if I would be on time for a delivery. The communication was a joke there considering they couldn’t give a straight honest answer to even the simplest question.

Yeah, 33 drivers who abandoned trucks can’t be wrong. You were wise to leave. Most of these OTR companies today suck and take advantage of the misinformed. They have driven the industry so far into the ground, they now have to rely on foreign drivers who barely speak English, while paying them peanuts to live out of a truck 4-6wks per tour.
