Go get your endorsements while you are not working. All of them, but HazMat, never expire and make you eligible to haul more freight. At a mimimum get Doubles/Triple (one endorsement), Tanker, and HazMat if you have a spare $200. NOBODY ever was denied a job because they had endorsements. They are about $15 each, except for HazMat, and they are just tests on the computer.
Every version of every endorsement test is available for free at TruckerCountry.com
Here is how to study and pass them easily.
    Why everyone needs Tanker endorsement.

Don’t think they’ll bite. You could try my company out “National Carriers”. They’re based in Irving TX but they have tons of freight that run into NJ and if you’re up to it NYC. I think they want at least 6 months experience but they’re pretty lax I think you can talk your way into having you run with a trainer for a few months. Our trainers run solo loads so you’ll get some actual training instead of being treated like an extra logbook, most trainers will only drive if you get fatigued and the load is running behind.

Try Mast Trucking out of Ohio, they definitely hire in your area. Reefers is where it's at
