There’s cities that are more affordable than seattle..Seattle for all intents and purposes has gone to the dump…here’s comparing to Houston another even bigger city

    IMG_1101.jpeg IMG_1102.jpeg

So comparing seattle to some podunk town is not even remotely the same..

Keyword being "used". Yeah, most larger companies "used" to have a pension. Most of them are gone.

Pensions are great..............until you get ready to start receiving one only to find out that the the company has gone down and spent the pension funds or a portion of them. This happened to my wife's stepfather who had worked for Frigidaire. It is far better to invest in one's own fund be it an IRA or 401K than to count on proper management of a large corporation's pension fund in my opinion.

Not sure what unions have to do with my dead body in a truckstop...what, if I were part of a union, God Almighty would bless me with a long life?

And you say pensions used to be huge for the middle class? So did riding in a horse and buggy, having a crank on the side of your landline phone and a projector tv...times have changed

And your argument has only solidified my opinion that MOST union members are self centered entitled whining crybabies that if they don't get their way they throw a hissy fit temper tantrum worse than a teenager who just had their cell phone taken away. They couldn't care less how their strike hurts other businesses other than their employer.

Don't forget big city issues like more traffic, more congestion, more crime, more polution, more homeless people, more nosey "karen/kevin" neighbors that go out of their way to tell you how to live. Why on earth anyone would want to live anywhere near a major population area is a mystery. I like living out in the sticks. I live between 2, as you say, podunk towns. One has 1 redlight, the other has 2. The one with 2 has multiple restaurants to choose from (who we know the owner by name...their 1st name), we have a place to buy our groceries, gas, auto parts, home improvement supplies, 3 different banks. Big cities usually have bills for city water(usually with chlorine and floride added) and sewer, and monthly fees for trash. I have a well, septic and my weekly curb side trash pickup is included in my yearly property tax, which included fire protection. My wife knows all the cops by their 1st name, (she works part time for the city), she knows the mayor and the city council by name (1st name). If we need something that our town doesn't have, the next town over is slightly larger, or it's only 25 minutes to either Gainesville or Lake City, although I hate going to either one unless absolutely necessary. And it's so quiet and peaceful in my neighborhood, I can hear the hoot owles, a dog bark a mile away, and someone down the road has donkeys that make some noise some evenings. I know most of my neighbors by name, and we all mind our own business unless they come by and ask for our opinion. I don't have to ask permission from the permit or planning board to make additions or improvements to my home (because there isn't such a thing for the county, only if you live within the city limits). I don't have any issues with HOA ######## or neighborhood watch (because we protect our own)...

I live on the edge of DFW but almost in the country also. 10 min from the rat race but my area is quiet.

Things have changed back to the original route and delivery schedule. SoCal 1st, Bay area 2nd. Rancho secured a load out of San Carlos (near where I will be delivering) that will fit under my conestoga going to Massachusetts...so I have no issues changing back for that kind of miles. Mass might be tough getting a load out with a conestoga, but I will start the next pay period with 3000+ miles, so I will have a head start so a little delay can be absorbed.

Sounds nice to me. I live 10 minutes from a town of 10k and 30 minutes from the southern part of Kansas City. The only regret I have with moving to the country is living on a gravel road. Everything is always dusty. No mater how much you clean. But it’s nice and quiet.

Well the week started off hauling $3M+ airplane wings and it ended with a used roll off container and an off brand POD. IMG_7333.jpeg
dropped my empty wing trailer in Wichita and picked up this preloaded pre-secured two stop load going to TN and NC. IMG_7331.jpeg
the front piece comes off first and the back piece comes off 600 miles later. And they want to winch the front piece off. That’s obviously not going to work so
A few of the guys at the yard helped me move everything around. IMG_7332.jpeg
Much better. I’m going to say this was poor planing and the result of trying to just wing it with an LTL shipment. Hopefully the other driver wasn’t that goofy.
