SPD had a fixed vacation pay of $1000, so based on the desk driver's set work week (that they think we operate on) my vacation pay won't change. This is the only company I have worked for who didn't base their driver's vacation pay on either a yearly gross (decided by 52), or base it on your last 13 weeks (shout out to Creaffer's management).

Newguy(my nickname for my travel agent)is out again. However, they have me dispatched on an elevator load out of Dallas going to Phoenix for Monday. Last time I delivered out in that part of the world, Rancho set me up on a load out of the SoCal area.

I emailed payroll about the sick pay rate change. Along with that, I didn't see an additional deduction for the hospital insurance coverage I added when I 1st started. I asked if that was still offered...during open enrollment, when they said our coverage won't change, so if we like what we have, we didn't need to do anything, so I never bothered to look at what additional coverage they had. I am getting a deduction for accident on/off duty, but that's it. Payroll cc'd 4 more people in HR to look into it...our HR and Wylie's HR. Really starting to have an uneasy feeling about this whole Canuk buyout deal. Not sure it's all that it's cracked up to be. I mean, Daseke was getting to the point they would screw up a wet dream, but I am starting to feel the same way about our new owners.

What did they say about the sick pay rate?

I finally got on the road about 12:30 today. This is going to be one stressful load. The entire time going down the road it wobbles back and forth. The last loads were supposed to be 58,800 and these were 49,500. Wrong, these are about 1k heavier than the last ones. That explains why my trailer is hurting. Just going to have to take it nice and slow, especially in the corners.

Never got a reply but most of the HR department from 2 companies are involved. Did they need to get that many people involved? Probably not, but the more the merrier.

I remember once I accidentally turned in an 8 dollar receipt for rain-x twice. (They used to reimburse for that) next thing I know the CFO and president of the company are CC’ed on the email letting me know of my mistake. Like chill out lady.

Lol they likely wasted more that $8 just having everyone read the email.

I wish (only sparingly) that I still worked in business, with the AI tools it would be nice to quickly move selected messages to the trash bin automatically…man that would have really helped lol.

Elevator load loaded and tarped. Not the biggest elevator load I have hauled. There was another SPD loading there as well. His load was even smaller. He was pulling a step, it was all loaded on the lower deck and it wasn't even as high as the upper deck.

Got attacked by a perfect looking bungee today...and yes, I was pulling it down with my back turned to it like you're supposed to, and it still popped me a good one. It missed all the important stuff, just dinged my cheek a little.

I think I might have a pretty good bruise by the time I make it to Phoenix... I'll just tell everyone that my wife didn't like the new vacuum cleaner I bought her for Christmas  :D...

Dam I've managed to not get popped by any bungee in all of 2024 , but I will say I started wearing safety glasses when tarping now. I got smacked in my eye a couple years back and was lucky I didn't get my eye poked out
