Dropped in Clayton this morning and had to reload at Classic Manufacturing up out of Brazil, so that was a blast. But I made it.

Just pulled into Ellabell and shut down at the Pilot for a much needed 34. The last hour or so was a big mental drag for some reason and i feel like i’m suffering from jet lag or something. Maybe i’m just not used to just getting up and driving for several days straight without dropping or picking up trailers or delivering to customers. I’m used to 1200-1400 mile loads but this was a 4 day escapade of just driving where i went #### near coast to coast.
Goody3635, IH9300SBA, Silverdriver and 4 others Thank this. -
Some more advice @Cherokee65
Whoever you choose to drive for, stay with them for AT LEAST 6 months at the bare minimum, a year preferably. Your #1 goal as a new CDL holder is seat time and experience. It doesn’t need to be the most glamorous of jobs. More experience will open up better paying and different types of jobs down the line. I see too many people in this industry who endlessly job hop.Goody3635, IH9300SBA, Knucklehead and 4 others Thank this. -
It will also probably take you some time to get used to the truck and stuff after training. I did 4 weeks of CDL school, 2 weeks of onboarding and stuff, and one week with a trainer before Schneider just threw me out to the wolves so to speak. It took me a good 2-3 months of driving before i felt comfortable with my rig and wheeling a 53 footer around. Thankfully it was during the summer so i was already comfortable with driving before i went through my first winter
Knucklehead, IH9300SBA, hope not dumb twucker and 1 other person Thank this. -
To catch up from yesterday.
Finally met @runningman0661 and thanked him for unknowingly steering me to this company through his success here.
Next/Current load. Steel coil on the yard heading to Brenham TX for Thursday. But after driving most of the day today, I called dispatch and said I could deliver tomorrow and they said ok. Didn’t give me insight to a plan behind this one, but I didn’t ask for one either. I’m just wanting to get in some sort of a spot to hopefully clear the next snow storm.IH9300SBA, runningman0661 and Cherokee65 Thank this. -
Knucklehead, dwells40, IH9300SBA and 2 others Thank this.
