Also, if you are trying to pass a truck, or catching one, pay attention to how your distance between him and you change. If you're ONLY gaining on him on hills, then don't pull out to pass on a straight stretch, you'll never do it. If you seem to gain on him and then in the hills he pulls away from you, don't try to pass him on the hills. You just have to pay attention. Every situation is different. Driving is more than just keeping the truck between the lines. It's ensuring that you drive efficiently and not in a manner to cause people to get angry.
I shouldn't have to be patient if I'm in the passing lane. It's your job, as the slow truck, to make smart decisions about when to pass. You don't HAVE to pass that truck in front of because you dash is beeping as you come up behind him. That's irrelevant to everyone on the road other than you. If it's beeping and you can see you BARELY caught him, back off, set the cruise, and chill behind him. Don't swing out and cut me off coming up at 72-73 in the hammer lane in a 68mph truck and then take 15 minutes to pass when you could have waited for me to go by and there was nothing behind me for 2 miles. I can't tell you how many times this has happened. That peeves me to no end. I've actually turned in video to safety departments of drivers who do stuff like that. I don't play around. Learn to drive or get off the road. Hell my truck can't even do the speed limit in Texas so I am very careful not to cut off faster trucks. I know I'm not the fastest truck on the road, so I drive accordingly. But I drive putting other drivers (faster trucks) first. I just feel that I'm one of the only ones who does it.
Of course there are exceptions, like emergency vehicles on the shoulder and such. I can deal with that. But a JB hunt at 65.5mph passing a swift a 65? Oh hellz to the no. This kind of stuff causes road rage and why truckers get shot at. We had a driver 10 miles from where I was shot on foot get shot at in his truck. I tell him to STAY TO THE RIGHT. The only thing that pisses me off worse than a slow truck in the left lane is when I pull out to pass a slow truck and then he realizes he's got an accelerator pedal and speeds up to prevent me from passing him. Oh yea, that's my number one pet peeve.Last edited: Jan 24, 2025

Keep your eyes wide open and read every sign. Off ramp speed limit signs you definitely don’t want to miss.. Your training at Schneider is very short so don’t waste your time with the training talking about the weather.
We’re about the same age..the age where there’s no time left for do-overs
The only thing other than short training is pay. From what I’ve heard it’ll be kind of low for awhile.
Good luck and keep posting your progress with them.
I tried getting on with them when I started but didn’t get past the pre hire stage.gentleroger, Lonesome and Cherokee65 Thank this. -

Do Schneider trucks come with a microwave and fridge or is that something that I will need to furnish?

The biggest issue I have right now is that the state of Missouri just got a new system for the DMV. Its software isn’t compatible with the federal system for the clearinghouse. I got my CDL-A on 12/27/2024 and it still won’t verify on the clearinghouse. I’ve called multiple times and emailed the DMV here and the clearinghouse. The DMV said it’s on the clearinghouse and the clearinghouse says it’s on the state end. I went to the DMV and just got a printout of my driving record to give to Schneider and I hope it works for them, but if it doesn’t I’ll be in a bad spot. They’re more than welcome to call the DMV and get my record. Maybe I’m just stressing out over it for nothing? I just like to have all my ducks in a row and right now it seems like those ducks are scattered.
