Yepperz! I like routines. Billy big rigger honking only causes me to move slower. Impatient people are fun to mess with. I have people who get right on my back bumper in my car and I’m driving the speed limit I slow down 5 mph. Rather them hit me slower than faster and I’m not going to be pushed down the road. When they honk, I honk back. LOL- They usually fly around me and cut me off. Let them get mad, I think it’s funny. I’m only moving as fast as I’m going to move. I don’t do it on purpose, I drive the speed limit because I don’t like tickets and it’s the speed limit.
Yeah, I’m not dropping a trailer just because I didn’t check the locking jaws. I’m too particular to do anything like that. I’m very picky about how I do things. If anything is wrong then I want to know about it and get it fixed before anything bad happens.

You chose to link to the thread created by a 71 year old retired driver who 'un-retired' to drive intermodal, then quit after 5 days because he didn't understand the logic behind loads and objected to waiting in line to in gate at non-Schneider facilities.

Why not the one about the guy who left Gary with a known air leak, didn't stop at a truck stop when it got worse, but decided to drive into a blizzard before getting stuck on the side of the road for an excessively long time waiting on a tow truck?

I was there for 14 years, made good money and was treated with respect. Were there issues? Yeah, but show me a job that doesn't.

I'm sorry to hear about your trouble with the DMV/Clearinghouse. Once you get that cleared up and a new date to orientation, tag me and I'll hit some of the non-standard, SNI specific pointers.

In the meantime, peruse Day by day adventures of a new solo OTR driver

It's out dated on some of the technology and the training timeline, but it's still a good primer for what to expect as a new driver.

No job is perfect. Every job has its issues. I just want to work, get paid and pay my bills. I’ve worked at some real bad places the last few years but not as a trucker. I’m just trying to get my foot in the door if the government could get their heads removed from their rear ends. This clearinghouse deal is about to drive us out of our house and live in our car if we don’t lose that too. I’m sick of waiting on the government for anything.

Check the company store for an Atlas. They were on there for $10 a few months back. I think you can access it through Compass. I'd check myself, but my ID isn't letting me login for whatever reason.

That would be awesome!! I’ve done some route planning in the past working in construction and trying to figure out how to get to some plants we worked in. We did millwright work and we installed dock levelers, platforms and staircases. We would set up outside shipping and receiving to unload machinery and steel. I’d go to Google Earth for final routes. We would do our best to stay out of the way for truckers coming and going. I always looked at it like the truckers were supplying my paycheck. They hauled in everything the plant needed and hauled away goods the plant sold. I have a lot of respect for truckers, always have had.
