Just read through this thread. Had no idea over in the other thread you were living in a day cab truck? Until someone mentioned it and I saw it here. Dunno the circumstances but you have to stand up for yourself in this work. Don't blame you for wanting to leave, good luck!

Just plan it into your day to go by the OC or the pilot in Lebanon or dalesville.

Me, I would be dropping the day cab at the store and Bob tailing my sleeper to the OC every night.

Yeah that would be possible but I already sent in my 2 weeks annd I don’t regret it ant all. Home Depot loads their flatbeds crazy. Inexperienced forklift drivers with flatbed drivers hauling lots of stuff they’ve never hauled.

I had a 6 ft pallet of mulch, with straps on it just barely tight, explode yesterday. The plastic wrap around it just gave out. When I called to tell him he said it happens all the time. I had bags of mulch hanging off the trailer just barely staying on with the straps. I put in my 2 weeks less than an hour later. Too risky. Not enuff pay. I didn’t choose this route, and I probably never would unless I had a house nearby. They want to squeeze like 20 stops a day out of you.

A 20 stop run is enough of a chore with a van and a lift gate.

That's a peddle run where I'm at. Gravy, it's some of the easiest money we ever make. 20 or so stops of melons or pumpkins kick off a pallet or two here there and everywhere, about 15 minutes a stop.

I definitely wouldn't call what he's doing a 'gravy run'. It's a mix of job sites and residential, very few of whom are ready to accept delivery. Lots of issues with the 'scheduled delivery window' - the store sets it without any critical thinking about the best way to run the route or how long the drive will really take. Most of the residentials are expecting the driver to take the stuff into the garage or the back yard instead of the curbside they paid for.

These accounts tend to have very high driver turnover and a high number of service failures. Home Depot regularly swaps the mega carriers, caring mostly about price and using poor service levels to claw back money. It's basically Dollar General for flatbed.

Yeah I knew that about his run. A stark contrast between how it is at one company versus another. Multi-stop isn't a headache everywhere.

Shower? Only a flower petal laced bubble bath is good enough for a Speak, preferably with a soothing nocturne by Chopin, or Schumann, playing in the background.
