dunno.. all I can see that explains somewhat.

added; he says camera lenses are heated, and water repellent. So two questions answered.

The average person in a car comes on the on ramp Helen Keller style. That’s why they have to meter the ramps. You watch the on-ramp traffic and you can tell if the car is adjusting for the merge. You adjust accordingly and everything flows. If they aren’t, you say F it and continue on. Car will either break check, ride the shoulder or run into your right side.

You can tell if they know how to merge, if they can use their mirrors, have control of their vehicle, if they’re going to cut you off, or if they’re going to try to jack you.

Have seen some trucks running these things. Personally not impressed, still see dumb moves.
The one thing I have noticed is the amount of light they put out. I would think you can adjust this, but they seem awful bright, just too much light and glare coming at you.

Yep, cars are usually easy to predict. The occasional truck at a real bad time can be an issue, you can usually tell if there coming on in or backing off.

Next time you see a driver with them where you’re stopped, ask them. I’ve been inside a stopped truck and the system is friggin’ awesome. The driver loved it (his truck had no mirrors).

    Questions from the "dark side":

If your snazzy new "mirrors" malfunction/quit working -- what's your backup plan?

Who will repair them -- & where?

    And how soon?

    And how much....

    $$$$$$$$$.....?

And the same goes for regular mirrors.
A guy sideswiped me and took off both of the left mirrors. I won't drive without at least the main side mirror in place.
The same sideswipe would not have taken out that camera system because it is mounted much higher.

But a blown fuse or a camera malfunction... ice building up past the range of the heater to block the view... a screen malfunction...

The more technology that is required to sustain a system, the more that can go wrong.
And the more it will cost to fix it, as well as simply getting the parts. And don't forget the people with the knowledge and skills to do the job.
