Have they started to send trucks back to South Florida?

I know for the last year or two, trailers would be dropped at the rail yard in Jacksonville & they would be sent south by rail.

Only on a load-by-load basis. If there is enough time on the load to go by rail, it does. In this case, the 1st stop was in Naples, and finaled out in Lauderdale on Thursday...plus it picked up Tuesday(Monday night if I woulda had the hours on my 14 - which I would've had if the previous loads shipper been provided an acceptable trailer to preload instead of another p.o.j he was left by another seat warming, short-bus academy rejected, steering wheel holder) so, I had to wait to be preloaded on that load, thus screwing up my day, and once again lose time because of this company's equipment.

I seriously think most of the problems are brought on by the way these trucks are spec'd. They run so nose heavy most of the time, and with trucks like yours and mine that have the APU, that is placed inches from the passenger side fuel tank, that adds to excessive wear, on that side especially. I read somewhere that these 12000 lb front axles can handle up to 13,300 lbs safely, but only on occasion, not on a regular basis. My normal 'loaded' weight has me exceeding 12,000 most of the time unless my load is under 10-15000 lbs.

on these old worn out century class crete's...moving the 5th takes a cutting torch and some new bolts. Even on the newer trucks that have a sliding 5th...Crete bolts the linkage down so you can't adjust and will disipline any driver they catch unbolting it and sliding. Remember, here at Crete, they only want mindless steering wheel holding robots incapable of independant thought. We are not trusted...period. We can't be trusted to know how to slide our 5th wheel, we can't be trusted to choose our own fuel stops, we can't be trusted to be left alone in an unlocked terminal without adult supervision. But remember -according to the advertisement - Crete loves their drivers (the rest of the statement they don't print, which is... We love our drivers...to get in, sit down, shut up and do what we tell them, or they're free to leave if they don't like it here) ............ YES, I am having another Snackbar attitude eruption!!!

I hear ya SSB. My first truck had the APU directly on the right side just ahead of the tandems. Roehl has some like you said on the left side of their trucks. It would be interesting to hear from their drivers if the same is happening to them.

Ever consider the reason they tell YOU what to do? Because THEY write your check. You don't like it, quit and go somewhere else where you'll be in the same situation.

I'd do yourself a favor and just stay out of trucking. If your already that anti-driver before even getting your CDL your going to be one miserable MOFO out here.

"You'll be in the same situation" as if too say there aren't companies that allow a driver to think on their own. Your wrong. I'll tell you what's funny, not drivers that are simply venting among others, people that come here just to complain about other posters.

Why do I get the feeling you've looked into making the big bucks with Trans-Am's lease a piece program?

I'm stating a simple business practice, which sounds like it doesn't click in your head.

Think about this seriously for a second- you own a company, your company wants to make money. Are you going to pay people what they think they should be paid or what you deem appropriate? If a company doesn't make money, it doesn't exist. That being said, they're going to hire people that are desperate for a job because they know they can pay them rock bottom wages...
