That's funny and would probably do the job, the legal side would be different, ya, it would be illegal to do that as every truck stop has a < Safe Haven > for trucks like that, or they should have one.......

Americans are supposed to be pro-active. We dont just settle for whatever the conditions are. Thats why we Americans lead the world in living standards, innovation, and technology. Someone is going to make a muffler that reduces reefer noise to near zero because truck drivers and people living near truck stops are "whining like little kids".
If we were all forced to accept things because the "the world is a great big place", we would be acting like Neanderthals and killing our neighbors for the things we rant about on the web. Instead we figure out how to change those things.

Some merit there. But we american truck drivers used to be "tougher skinned". We didnt go around "whinning" about things that were so petty, at least all the ones I grew up around. We did something about it ourselves instead of whinning about it. Action speaks louder than words. Like I said , we are adults. Why "whine" like a little child when u can do something about it? Instead of "whinning to Mommy and Daddy" to fix it for them? As for living stadards like u said...take a look around, we are going backwards on that as a country. Along with military (reducing Navy to be #2 in world), gun rights, China is on the rise in the tech department. Personaly...like I said earlier about adjust-adapt-deal. Im an O/O, cant stand all the B/S that goes on at these truckstops (getting pathetic lol). So, I start going to the small mom and pop truckstops and chains. Thats "Adjust". I find more and more throughout the contry and "wheel-and-deal" places like Marathon and work on a fuel discounts with their corporate offices as a solo O/O. Quieter, nicer, smaller equals...Happier me. Thats "Adapt". Im now happier...I put more profit into MY pocket...Even get to meet alot of good hard-working people...and dont have to worry as much about someone hitting my truck. Thats "Deal". Look...I solved my problem, On My Own. Pretty simple. Be safe out there drivers.

As vacuum's being also noisy as all hell i do not think that would work for him, i bet if you use Whisper Technology from Thermo-King the vacuum's would be alot more quiet....

I agree and feel the same way. Whether a flat bed, van or refer, I find it rude to park next to a non-idling truck and high idle your truck. How about saving fuel and money and buying an APU? Basically I don't idle because of the cost of fuel the noise. My APU keeps me cool and warm as I need and I can start and stop it with the push of a button. But I prefer neither idling nor a running APU, just quiet.

2/22/13 Fairrview, Tn Flying J. Parking is a cluster **** over in the NE corner (fuel isles, store, etc...). So I chose to park in the SW corner. No trucks around so I grabbed the corner spot AND nosed in. As the night wore on a few others parked next to me, also thinking it was a "quiet zone" and proceeded to kill their equipment. Well, one of them managed to leave a spot open between us and in comes a running reefer. Keep in mind there's 16 empty spots on our row ALONE towrds the N side of the lot and the 2 rows heading E have sporadic parking - including pull throughs. WTF? Laws and regulations are in place because people CANNOT regulate themselves. I still think that noise is and will be an issue unless common sense prevails. I just hope I'm not around when someone goes postal...

I'm guessing the 'ol skoolers where never presented with the concept of "progressive thinking". While your running to look it up I'm gonna continue. Here we have a forum for the exchange of ideas, popolar or not. When a thought, new or inconceivable 15 yrs ago arises many automatically claim "whiner!" Time to get with the program, gentlemen. We can either work on compromises amongst ourselfs or allow the government to intervene. Because while some of us are, trying to discuss issues-others are discounting valid complaints. I know that not too long ago being "loud and proud" was part of the scene, and having CDL mills is compounding problems. But noise IS an issue and will only get worse. I implore you to use common sense, please! I'm thinking peer pressure will go a long way in educating drivers on truck stop etiquette- so how 'bout being part of the solution instead of the problem...

Sounds good to me!! I'm excepting donations for a new whisper quiet APU and a new whisper quiet reefer trailer for my buddy. Oh wait, my buddy needs a new APU also.
