Dallas is getting soggy , real soggy.
It's been a slow month for me. Backhaul seems to be short of the usually decent options to be able to timely move ya. Having said that. I noticed at 11 AM last Monday Lancaster rd Pilot had just 1 truck spot open that allowed me a place to park and grab a shower. I've also noticed a couple other times on Saturdays last 5 weeks the truck stops are maxed out b4 1 or 2 pm. That's a sign of a real crap economy.

Just want to say to Snack bar , I see you found hopefully what will be a better fit for ya.. , good luck .

As for the month I had , it'll fall about 2500 miles short of what I have become accustom to. Like the norm of 11000 for 25 days. Yes meaning 27 days out this month I'll be about 8500miles total.
I'll admit I get 2 or 3 months a year like this. Usually between Dec . And Mar. So when it happens in Oct. It concerns me.
My wife and I are savers , so there's no red flags going up.
The economy always concerns me though. As Jevic driver , when they went chapter 13 in 2008 , I hope it's the only time in my life I see that. It's a big reason we do what we do to build a financial safety net.

I want to add also , that yes it's frustrating when waiting a day for a backhaul. Something we don't often shine a light on here is who our brokers are. I'm real grateful Poly is picky about the brokers they use , for more than 1 reason.
I've been told a few times that they absolutely will not haul dirt cheap frt.
That to me is quite honorable and I hope they don't start. For if they do it's likely we'll start getting CH Robinson and American frt brokers the top 2 mut brokers in the frt business imo.
I've sat weekends 4 or 5 times because these a holes like to book 2 or 3 different carriers to go pick up the same load. 1 gets lucky rolling on a Fri at 1500 , the other 2 sobs have to wait til Monday. It's what helps me be more patient with them.
By not pulling those no dollar loads , maybe they're in business to stay in business.
Hopefully that will allow them to be understanding in certain situations resulting in 8 hrs pay at their discretion. Not to be abused of course.

I got a call and texts from coyote today asking for a location update and delivery time. Ask them who was the carrier was and told me poly was. I left poly over 3 months ago. Poly better not be giving my personal information to hold or use it for loads

    Update
Just received another call from coyote about a different load

My previous company used Coyote as well. I picked up a load in Corona Ca going to Garland. Loaded Wednesday at 1400 and had to be in Garland by 1400 Friday, perfectly doable except the shipper took 5 hours to load. Coyote acted like it was my problem and told me if I couldn't be there on time they would have to reschedule for Monday. I told that zit faced teenager that was fine as I live in Dallas and I'll deliver it on Monday. They rescheduled for Friday at 1900.

I do not miss those days at all, dealing with brokers. Many of them are conniving, sleazy, backstabers.

I'd play along and just tell them that you took the load home with you and will be out of the country for a few weeks and if they have a problem with it, they should call Poly and get someone else to haul the load.

I'm having a good October suprisingly. The last two weeks I did 3k+ miles each and hoping for the same this week. I'll be at 1600 with 5 drops done tomorrow , hope I can get a backhaul out of Maryland Friday so I can get the miles turned in. Then Goin to the house.

    Loanerdude Thanks this.
