I did the program and honored my commitment!
Gave them 55 weeks.
Opened my mailbox this morning to collection notice coming after me for $4400!!!
Guess todays plans are cancelled,
And painful phone calls to be made....
WOW! The rollercoaster continues.

Was one of the terms and conditions to qualify for the free training to stay one year? I can't imagine Swift not making this right. Imagine the fallout of negative press if they reneged on their free training for veterans program.
blairandgretchen and KriegHund Thank this. -
Ouch not good, surely some glitch....

The whole "We support our veterans " thing irritates me if its $$$ based.scottied67 Thanks this. -
Work day 1 of month 13, and loan is waived.
I gave them almost 56 weeks. And was also paid the 1 year bonus.
Gave two weeks notice and even worked another week past that to help as one of the drivers went out for family death.
Getting in touch with student loans is no easy task. Can't believe I am wasting Monday morning on this.
Really glad I didn't find this Friday afternoon!!
Very interested to see how this phone call pans out....blairandgretchen and scottied67 Thank this. -
It's got to be some mistake in the office. Probably this is the first crop of 'free training' veterans coming through and Swift doesn't have a protocol in place to deal with the free training driver completing their commitment.

I hope you are correct.
Various vet deals have been going well before me... Of course, at least in my experience, most guys don't make the full year. Most of my class didn't make 4 months.
I had a knowledgeable trainer, who taught me more than driving.
I managed to score a new clean truck and a dedicated account. Weekends home.
I'm supposed to be that 10% good experience cheerleader!
I wish someone would answer the frggin phone or return my call, so I can figure out WTF is going on!!scottied67 Thanks this. -
Here are two such programs by the VA:
Work Opportunity Tax Credit (WOTC) may be earned by employers who hire Veterans. Benefits range from $1,200 to $9,600, depending on the person hire.
The Special Employer Incentives (SEI) program provides assistance to employers who hire Veterans. The SEI program connects qualified Veterans with a specific role at your organization. Veterans who successfully complete the hiring program are expected to stay on at your organization. With this program, you can hire a qualified trainee at an apprenticeship wage.
Employers are reimbursed for up to half the Veteran’s salary to cover certain supplies and equipment, additional instruction expenses, and any loss of production. (Read more in the Special Employer Incentive Fact Sheet.)blairandgretchen and scottied67 Thank this. -
Maybe it's a Veteran Free training class and there's no veterans in that class

Well, this day has been about as pleasant as dealing with roadside.
Only can't give up, send a 55, and watch movies while waiting for hours.
Guess I will be making phone calls every hour all day tomorrow...
