Man I miss the beautiful mountains out west. My company only sends me to the projects in Chicago and Memphis now.

Thanks for this thread. I almost went back to reefer, despite almost swearing to the fact that I wouldn't. The op's list was enough for me to say forget about it...lol

What percentage of shipper required proof(receipt) of a washout?

I have only been asked to show a receipt for a wash out probably 3 times.

I wash out the trailer 100% of the time. Well, but there are some customers who have washouts onsite so I can just drop the dirty empty on their own washdocks.

I don't let them wash above the side rub panels .. best way for the trailer to get waterlogged

I've not had one ask for proof of a washout yet but haven't been at it that long. The brokers generally volunteer pertinent info like that when they have a fussy customer. Actually it's a good question to be asking on some loads.

Reefer is no problem as long as you are selective in what you are booking. You guys looking at it from your company driver perspective of forced dispatch into the kind of places that waste your time for a half a day or more. That is nuts. Use your experience there in deciding who you will and will not book with.

I always ask who the actual customer is on the shipping and receiving end, that information is readily given. If it wasn't I wouldn't even consider the load. You cherry pick the good loads. No waiting at fresh kill plants don't book that ####. Don't bother on loads with blown appointment times let some other driver deal with the hassle of workins.

Do everything you know to avoid the trouble and more often than not you will avoid it...

Is this a requirement of your company? Do they compensate you?
