They pull the drive shaft on manuals too when towing. Some will leave them be if going under 20 miles or so.
But yes I gelled up a few years ago and a guy had to crawl under my truck at -10 to disconnect my driveshaft. Had to heat the nuts with a blow torch. Nothing a tow truck driver from South Dakota couldn't handle though. Not me though.

If they have the axle plate blanks, they can pull one axle from each drive and blank them off...it's loses a little axle oil, but most of the time those nuts come off easier than u-joints...and once a u-joint has been removed, they're suppose to only use new bolts when they reinstall it.

I wonder who will have to pay for the road call tommorow?
I have a walmart trailer with the ABS light on.
Normally I would unplug or cut the wire to the yellow light, but never on a shag load.
When I hooked to this trailer the abs light was on, I went to the shop and found the three mechanics outside chatting, one mentioned unhooking the light which I said was not going to happen, but when I restarted my truck to head to the shop the light went out... but it's back on.
So me running local freight where I don't live really brings down my miles, plus it raises my idle time as it's freezing cold in here.
