Well now you know. I came from a company where you had to have the discipline and not even touch your phone unless the truck was stopped. I don't think about my phone as much as other drivers because i stop so often or i have my wife with me sometimes to handle calls and such. Good thing she's rode with me enough to understand why i don't use the phone while driving. Nothing worse than a nagging woman over how much we don't talk. But i see where you are coming from. I only call guys kids on here as a term of disrespect but clearly you are a good, decent man by your response so my apologies. We cool:cool:

Considering Western Express. Would be in Bloomington, CA for orientation. Good company? They have a Walmart Dedicated in my area.

They do plan on doing that eventually but they just came off a contract in which the third party handled 75% of their loads so they only have 25% of their own drivers and now they're slowly building up capacity in-house to cover that huge gap and in the meantime they're using power only temporary third party companies to pull their trailers

I don't know about that area but out east and Central coast it's great and I wouldn't imagine it'd be much different out west in fact I'd love to come out that way for like a month I might try it

wow I've never seen that out my way and that's Central America in east coast. I've been to all of their Terminals and I have not seen one single flatbed.

They have been doing it 2years now on East coast, only seasonal for dirt, mulch, lawn and garden supplies. Easier for stores to unload outside and doesn't trash the van trailers .

    Annonymous Thanks this.

I wonder where they store those trailers because I've been to almost every single one of their terminals they've never even seen a flatbed unless they had a minute area in which I did not go in which is extremely possible but they also might be renting them since you said they were seasonal so I guess it wouldn't make sense for them to buy a bunch of flat beds and then store them so that could also be a possibility but that's interesting I wonder what the pay is on there I know they also pull doubles dry vans and reefers

Last year a handful of the DC in the Northeast rented them, I remember they only kept a small number like on hand.
Long doubles are being phased out if not gone already, pups are used in DC/Baltimore market.

Wow. I guess the prospect of the Wally driver becoming a Swifty doesn't look so bad now?
