looking into buying my own truck and running regional and local. I wanted to apply the team driver concept to regional and local runs. Would that be possible with companies? To have a 2 man crew and 1 truck run local and regional? Example: driver 1 has dedicated route in the day time. Driver 2 has dedicated route over night.

Containers . It’s 24 7. I knew two brothers who did it nonstop one had dayshift and one at night shift 12 hours each

But then we don’t call it a team operation we call it a slip seat operation

Oh okay. That makes sense. Thank you. One more question, would you happen to know that the pay is like running that kind of operation?

    Perhaps a valid suggestion.

Most of the container hauling trucks I see look like they've been run/maintained as a team miles - but they're only a solo operation.

Ha ha right ? A lot of these guys run older trucks because they’re closer to their own shops and the house so it’s not a catastrophic deal if they break down versus breaking down over the road in an unknown place

It's not so much 'older truck' issue - I drive a '95 - specialized flat and OTR. I have no fear of breakdown away from the house. What I'm pointing out is that maybe there's not much in the game, and it's more of a means to an end than a business.

Yeah the pay definitely isn’t the best . I get what you’re saying now . they are running really hard just to get by. In that thread link I posted a guy has recent claims to some serious revenue but like all segments it varies by geography and capacity . But if you can get two drivers cheap enough to run cans 24 7 with low overhead there might be something in it

    In a nutshell -

Shoot for the moon, you'll be pleased when you hit the barn.

Shoot for the barn, you'll be lucky to hit the outhouse.

Keep researching and thinking, and preparation is key.

    Good luck.
