Don't forget about the trucks with bad air dryers that pop off every 30 seconds.

I'm glad that I don't drop n hooks any more. I've had the same trailer now for almost a month and it's a solid trailer with a TK reefer. Other than the broken belts the other day; it's been an excellent trailer and I don't foresee getting rid of it anytime soon.

How can you sue for “low pay” you knew exactly what they were going to pay when you signed the contract. Seems to me that they agreed to that when they signed the contract.
That’s like buying a house by an airport then suing the airport because it’s noisy.

It's kind of telling that the person only worked here for what 3 months and then sued.

I can tell you if I was making negative paychecks and sub $500 paychecks I wouldn't be here for the 3+ years I've been here...

of course if I counted every single hour I was awake as working time anytime I was a contractor both here and for the IT industry...I could make everyone violate minimum wage...

If he was logging 100 hour weeks, he wasn't being efficient with his hours and wouldn't have been able to manage very many miles hence the $500 dollar weeks.

It sounds like by the lawsuit...the chump couldn't run at all no matter what...sounds like someone who wanted to be paid for no work...

    Jarhed1964 and CannonballAA Thank this.

I think a lot of it has to do with there are quite a few people who come to JCT who shouldn't even be attempting to run a business. They don't have the mindset or the desire to learn. Drive fast, fuel expensive, turn down everything for "perfect" runs.

Then even worse when they fail they immediately go "well it couldn't have been anything that I did... It's JCTS fault!"

That being said you can end up picking a lemon of a truck. but then again you do have the ability to pull maintenance records for that truck and try to figure out why the previous driver gave it up. So you can see if it's a shop queen. and new trucks aren't to guarantee you won't have problems mine was in the shop for a solid week within its first 15, 000 miles.

Could JCT help out the newer drivers? Probably they could probably make the first month nothing but half payments to let new drivers get their feet underneath them. That way if they do have a bad truck that usually shows its head in that first month. Keep a driver from turning sour too quick. it's got to be less expensive to keep a driver than to get a new one.

Maybe Fast Track getting rid of some of these trucks that are problem trucks instead of turning them sounda on a new class over and over.

I'm just not sure how they think it's not a contractor classification. You can refuse any load given you can take any route you want other than I-90 across the top and I-70 in Colorado but they pay you extra to go around those. The appointments are set by the shipper and receiver. the only Sticky Thing would be when your lease agreement with JCT ends that you're not able to take the truck elsewhere but in the contract it says if payment arrangements are met you can.

    Ehh who knows...

I believe the first 21 days the contractor is onboard, there are no payment deductions.
