In a new Ultraloft. Now I remember why I miss my 587. Interior space!

12 speed auto isn't bad, it's just so pathetically slow off the mark. Even if you put it in manual mode, it's slow. So you just leave it in auto drive and tick off everyone behind you.

8.7 mpg out of the box pulling 78k. That's with new tires, winter fuel, etc. Business wise, gonna pay for itself over a 10 speed in fuel savings.

Backs well. Lack of clutch a non issue.

Easy truck to drive. Lane departure and speed warning are actually kind of nice. I won't even have to nag the trainees, the truck will do it for me.

In fact, I fear it's too easy to drive. Manual you have to pay attention. This thing, you just zone out.

They're just ornamental anyway...the wife gave me the gift of a vasectomy for fathers day many years ago...so they're like an unemployed millennial...they're just hanging around, not doing anything useful, taking up space...:)

Hey Zata40, next time your tranny "bricks" on you, try turning the key on and off several times. Not start the engine, but just turn the key on and off. This resets the computer in the transmission and "unlocks" it so you can go into gear. Had it happen with the KWs and Freightliners autos I have driven. Probably same deal with the Petes. Might save you from waiting on a hook. I love the autos, especially in a traffic jam! That's all I have driven in the five PLUS years since I got out of school. Not to mention no knee, hip, leg or back problems pushing in a heavy clutch. Just sayin!

    Clarification?
Are you interrupting the computer set up? By turning off before it goes completely through it’s cycle? Thus kinda slapping the computer upside the head. :)
    Or...
Turn on. Letting it cycle through setup. Then turn back off. Perhaps repeating?

And at 0730, I hit a deer in Kentucky.

Six whole days. That's how long a new $200,000 truck lasts. Six effing days.

Old truck is sitting out in Rock Springs, WY with a load of bad fuel. Trainee and I sat in a hotel for twelve days before magnum said get a rental car and come on back, your new one is finally in.

They're still argue over who's paying for that one. I figure the bill will be north of $30,000. This one, new hood, quarter bumper, etc. Probably $7,000.

Having ssb luck this month. Anybody who wants to be an O/O needs to have their head examined, imho.

Must be a he'll of a lot of money in French fries...

Dang! 12 days in a hotel... nothing but time to start invading your thoughts. Reminds me of my time with a different carrier when I first got my CDL... 3 weeks in a hotel waiting for my “proper CDL” to arrive in the mail after I was driving on my temporary permit during training. The 3 weeks of boredom broke me and shook me up as a brand new driver and I ended up not driving for them and didn’t drive a truck for a year before coming to Magnum. But at least you get breakdown pay!
