It Took me a while to learn at least for my case the simpler life is better. Working in an office requires more than ability to get places. I had the ability. The people skills not as much.

Why would anyone want to be anything other than a trucker. You get to travel the country. You have a job where you are treated with dignity and respect. Also, all the women and money. I just don't understand how anyone could want anything more.

No women, yeah maybe. But dignity, meh i just want a check. People treating me with respect means they have to interact with me. I dont want that. If someone is thinking about talking to me id rather they assume I am too smelly to get near.

I took online an online Chemistry course from Collin County Commuity Colleges(DCCD) out of Dallas, waaaaaay cheaper even including the lab kit. I can imagine a DOT officer’s immediate jump to conclusions if they found a portable lab kit in your truck though.
Kit wasn’t too fancy, only about 15 total chemicals, a very basic spring weight, beakers, graduated cylinder, thermometer, and a small collection of test tubes.

    TravR1 Thanks this.

In the 70s I was taking night classes at my base. Then in the years since I got out of the AF I took classes during those times I was not OTR. By the time my mom passed away in 2010 I had everything but a math credit to get my BS. I did that through an online setup. There are some fantastic schools here that do this. As a driver, these things are one day at a time.

Exactly. Women love a big fat dude in flip flops who can handle his big Volvo truck with automatic transmission and a tv with Xbox.

I think that most of us would appreciate more IT professionals with experience as a trucker.

For example: The company who designed Peoplenet clearly have never spent a day in a truck in their entire life.

A lot of the information presented on the device screen while rolling is useless, and could be replaced by useful data.

Also, the fact that the screen dim feature only works when the at-speed screen is showing is retarded. When backing into a dock or parking spot at night, having the bright screen pop up so I have to turn the unit off to preserve my night vision is a potential safety hazard.

Thats the problem it’s hard getting a real relationship as a trucker sure when I’m home I’m good I own a Tesla for Christ’s sake and have a nice looking stock portfolio for my age however when I tell the ladies I’ll see you in 3 to 4 weeks since I’m a trucker they seem less interested
