I guarantee, you won't be ready. You will be ready enough though. Ready enough to know where the obstacles are, and where the trailer is in relation to the obstacles. Ready enough to manage the prople net sort of...ready enough to be on time sort of...ready enough to manage your clocks sort of. Ready enough to live and breath the Smith system...sort of.

For the next few weeks, sort of work on those things. Remember the bright side, in 3 weeks, you will be teaming and know your sleep schedule. Solo drivers never know theirs. Typically, I get up two hours earlier than the day before every single day. Then I get a load with some time on it and get back to normal.

Enjoy the experience. No need to panic now that you know you won't be ready.

Gambosa, mitrucker and Tierael Thank this.

Thank you that is really helpful advice. I will keep it in mind. I am looking forward to getting the wheels turning with her and getting some work done. Truck on!

My fiance just got back to Joplin and she is scheduled to take her upgrade test on Saturday I think. I am still out with my finisher.

I started to comment on this but forgot. I’m pretty sure the 20-45 is correct for when the spring brakes come on fully. There is another similar question but I can’t recall what it was; maybe how much it falls when doing your air brake test?

You chose CFI but then went to a local company that had a straight truck instead? Now you are thinking about going with CFI? Sorry, I’ve not been awake long and got confused. This threads op said once they were driving, which they are, he would mostly post in the “what’s your 20” thread.

At the last moment my husband decided to have us test drive with a small local company. At the time the empty promises sounded good to him and I agreed to give it 3 weeks. We found out it was a poor choice. I had spent a couple months researching CFI and that's where I really had wanted to start with. We have now completed the applications, background clearance, and interview, We need to get our permits and they will schedule our training in Kingman, AZ.
