Stay away from anyone keeping your fuel surcharge.

Yes trucking is very cut throat and ruthless. There are many honest people out there too but far more dishonest. Everyone has to make a buck to survive and unfortunately someone in your position is going to be at the bottom of the totem pull taking the shaft.

The truck is probably a $10,000 truck if you had CASH. I recently had a guy ask me to finance a truck I have for sale. I thought about it and my price rose significantly because I will be taking on significant risk. As far as the lease goes we need more details. If he’s running spot market there really is no fuel surcharges, you just give an all in price when you negotiate the load.

2004 Columbia are going for $12k in Truck paper, and that's from a dealer. So obviously its marked up. $8k cash buyer all day long.

Let me throw a couple numbers at you. When I'm staying busy, I use between 90 and 110 gallons of fuel per day, six days a week, and I am required to shut down for a break after six days. If I pay $2.50 per gallon, that's an average of $250.00 per day in fuel. $1500 per week in fuel.
If I understand right, they are saying the truck will make 1500 per week. You do the math. 1500 - 1500 = ?
Like I said, the numbers change drastically if the fuel is paid for by someone else. But otherwise... Well... Zero is not a good income BEFORE truck maintenance and driver food.Dino soar Thanks this.
