Why are amazon drivers so bad? I almost had one hit me head on a few weeks ago and not long before that I watched a fedex pulling doubles dodge an amazon truck who randomly swerved into his lane. I always see them driving off the shoulder then swerving back onto the road too

In MY opinion its a mix of several factors. First they have ####### pay. This tends to only attract either the stupid the desperate or the nieve. As such they have a very low quality and class of driver working for them to begin with. Next due to said ####### pay most of their rigs are one step ahead of a DoT redtag. Another point is amazon tends to focus on hireing non u.s native workers to keep up with their diversity quotas. While not in and of its self bad many of these workers are fresh off the boat from countries where driving like a lunitic is the norm. Further many take classes to pass a cdl test which is very diffrent then being TRAINED to drive a truck and as such have all the driving skills of a standard 4 wheeler. Sure some take the job and no training theb run with it while being a good enough driver i am happy to call them a trucker......but they are i feel a minority.

Additionally amazon tends to flog their drivers via calls, messages and so on pressureing already stressed inexperinced drivers hell ive even heard recording of them threatening to get a drivers H1B revoked which of course can cause panic in these drivers who likely have friends and family that RELY on the income they send home. And lastly there are a lot of programs that just give trucks to these people misleading them into not careing too much about it and maybe even thinking they arent that valuable. Additionally a lot of preditory as hell banks and dealers that will loanshark a truck to them knowing they will likely default and thus these drivers end up with massive payments on a truck many of us would consider as at best a parts doner or likely just a scrapper.

Combine all the above and is it any wonder they have so many incidents?

You explained it perfectly. I drive nights and Amazon is by far my biggest obstacle/annoyance.

And Amazon's mantra, "No matter what, your load cannot be late".

Amazon has taken an old Kmart building here in Waynesboro, Va and turned it into some type of terminal. I bet they have 30 or more vans parked over there. Running ads for delivery drivers, $16 per hour doing same as UPS delivery drivers making $35 or more per hr.

Would it be wrong to put some type of sting operation on them? I mean after all we can't be the only ones noticing their driving behavior. Let them be late, let them be put O.O.S, packages will be late, customers unhappy, perhaps better choices will be made as to who hauls their crap.

I was wondering why 55 was closed the other day. Was westbound on 60 from 57. Dealt with the weather in Kentucky but by the time I got to Missouri it had cleared.

We could just stop giving CDL’s to the work visa crowd or whatever government program brought them here. This is the real pandemic :biggrin_2559:

That system is garbage. Of course every government program is. Make your own citizens lazy and give them never ending incentives to not work and bring in a ton of outsiders. What could possibly go wrong?
