So, my extended leave has ended and I am sitting in a new-to-me truck. A Cascadia, of course, and all you haters can keep it to yourselves. I like Cascadias. They're pretty comfortable and pretty reliable in my experience, which is probably why they sell so many of them. You can hate the blue paint job for me if you want, but it really wouldn't be right for me to complain about a truck that costs me nothing.
It has a 10 speed. I haven't driven a manual for three years. I hope it comes back quick tomorrow. I already miss the floor space where the shifter sits. I don't need to shift gears to feel good. I just need to make money for that. Probably there's only like a hundred of us left out of the 5000 drivers at this mega that know how to drive a manual, and they've got to use up this truck's warranty before they sell it, so here I am.
It kind of sucks to be back working, but it's kind of great even more than it sucks, so I'm content. I have a live unload at a grocery warehouse that delivers a few days before Christmas. I might complain about that later, but probably not.
OK, it was a very long day. Moving into a new truck wore me out. I forgot a bag of stuff at Mom's too so I don't have a powerstrip to plug in the microwave. Going to bed hungry, just like some poor waif in a musical.
What if it Snows?

Dude said he had enough food to last 30 days in truck.
Said i didn’t think he’d be there that long got a reload from Indy right back about 90 miles away.
Gotta give incentive, so the reload back may make it worth it.austinmike, dwells40, Freddy57 and 6 others Thank this. -

Glad.your ok. My dad retired a couple years ago and went back to work this summer running a hopper bottom. He runs about 8 states, hauls DDG, limestone and a few other commodities for chicken plants mostly.
He is making a good living, and glad to be back working but complains about the wait times which I warned him about. His boss sees how hard he runs so he ordered him a 2024 Timpte with all the options. At 72 years young he wants to work a few more years before he officially says no more.austinmike, homeskillet, dwells40 and 11 others Thank this. -
I have better service from Wilson’s.
Timptes have supports across the hopper doors making them hard to sweep off and clean.austinmike, homeskillet, dwells40 and 4 others Thank this. -
There's no mercy on you if you break down in the rack. I had a truck in front of me break down and when they pulled it forward, I didn't know he was broke down and pulled in behind him. Now that bay is one that you have to swing just right to get into. He came back and told me he was broke down and couldn't move so I told me not to worry, I would back out. When I was loaded, he watched for me, and I put on quite a display of backing prowess getting back out of there. I got a lot of respect that day from the other drivers that were sitting in the line. I don't think I would want to be driving that truck either, it just causes to much trouble when they refuse to start at the crucial moment.austinmike, homeskillet, dwells40 and 6 others Thank this.

LOL...losing to the Seahawks is like total humiliation...the Eagles are going to have to hide their faces in shame after that performance. Their going to need to hide their faces in public to avoid the pointing and snickering that's going to follow them around for the next year or two.IH9300SBA, austinmike, homeskillet and 5 others Thank this.

Freaking Cop at the hospital.
Here for 6-8 hours for dads surgery, got two bags (clothes, personal effects, shoes/socks in other) and his glasses and coat thrown over arm.
This .. This.
Dude.
Makes me lay all this down because of metal detector on way out!
I told him i was taking effects to pickup instead of holding it in waiting room.
Then.
Walking back in, empty my pockets again!!
Didn’t know what that stainless steel thing was, told him it’s got two ear plugs in it, i always keep them incase loud noise, such as unloading with vibration/grain dryers running loud and so forth.
They don’t use security here, actual cop.
austinmike, homeskillet, dwells40 and 8 others Thank this.
