If the weather holds for the next couple days, I’m planning on running north on 15 and over on 80 to get back to Nebraska. I much prefer that over the southern route assuming weather conditions cooperate

Other than Snoqualmie, are there any other passes mountain passes I should be concerned with going across Idaho, Montana and North Dakota with regards to chaining? STILL A VIRGIN.

@gntorres61 Lookout, 4th of July, are the two that come to mind.

Coming east out of Ellensburg, WA you hit a decent downgrade right before the Columbia river(not sure what it's name is). If it's crappy weather, it can get slick the closer to the river you get. Lookout and Homestake (Lookout is just as you exit ID into MT, Homestake is just east of Butte). Lookout can be deceiving because visually, you don't really get the feeling it's that steep until you're rolling down too fast. Homestake has a 25 mph speed limit for trucks but a 70 mph limit for everyone else. Last week when I came across there Lookout was slightly snowey, but very manageable. Homestake looked like it was polished by a Zamboni then had a bunch of sand dumped on it. I only had 5000lbs so I used the shoulder and rumble strips (where a bunch of sand had been pushed to by traffic).

Yeah lookout is the major one. Homestake doesn’t make you throw iron very much. I’m heading out Sunday morning and the forecast looks pretty good George. You should be chain free.
