    I wondered why they did that too when I was there. Absolutely no reason to put that much grease on.

    I can understand it on a new-ish truck because the grooves in the plate will swallow up the grease until they fill up.

    On the fifth wheel grease issue, I carry a plastic wide puddy knife, after a service I spread the grease out evenly and thin it out. This tends to help the issue Chris ran into.

    The problem with that is having to store that putty knife after use. How about putting on cheap rubber gloves and spreading it that way. Dispose when finished.

    How about using a paper towel and wipe the grease off the frame and get on with your life. Lol

    True, but it seems like every time I get within ten feet of my fifth wheel, I get grease on my clothes.
