The way they've been going the last 2+ weeks, I would only get offered worse loads. I know my days are numbered here, the extra time will give me time to pack all but the necessary stuff I will need to last between the time I leave out from hometime and when the bonus hits my bank account.

Rockbridge County I-81 Fatal Crash Involving Ambulance UPDATE:

Virginia State Police are investigating a major crash that occurred at approximately 5:08 p.m. Thursday on the northbound side of Interstate 81 at the 181-mile marker.

The crash involved 10 vehicles in total — six tractor-trailers, three passenger vehicles, and an ambulance. Authorities confirmed there was no patient on board the transport at the time.

Troopers reported multiple non-life-threatening injuries as well as one fatality. The deceased has been identified as Abdiqadir Ahmed Nur, 36, of Shakopee, Minnesota, who was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene after his vehicle collided into several tractor-trailers at the rear of the pileup.

Investigators believe the incident unfolded during heavy rainfall as traffic slowed for an earlier two-vehicle crash just ahead. As vehicles began rear-ending one another, the chain-reaction collision blocked the roadway, leading to the massive pileup.

A medical helicopter was dispatched to transport the driver of the ambulance, who sustained serious injuries. However, due to weather conditions, the helicopter was unable to return to Roanoke Memorial Hospital, and the driver was transported by ground to Rockbridge Community Hospital.

Hazardous materials teams were called to address fuel spills and debris cleanup, while VDOT set up detours to Route 11 to ease traffic congestion. All lanes of I-81 northbound were fully reopened by 1:00 a.m.

The crash remains under investigation by Virginia State Police.

Change of plans. Got to my shipper to check in, and a guy stopped me. He said they had a transformer blow at 5 am this morning and are closed until they get a rental generator or the power company replaces the industrial transformer (I am guessing their refridgeration is on it's own backup power source, but the lights and the office have no electricity to operate). So, I was down to a little over 4 hours on my 14 by the time I got there, so I just headed for the Columbus terminal and shut down for the night.
