Who has them?
What sort do you have and/or recommend?
How do you store what you record and how many hours can you store?
They seem like a great idea to me, cos if something goes wrong, you've got a record of what happened, but no idea how they actually work or what kind is the best to get.

May also work against you?

This post may get moved to the "Electronic Connection" section of the forum, as it's more topic specific.
There's also many dash cam threads on there.
I don't have one yet, but it's definitely high on my list. I've been doing a good bit of research/comparison on them.
As far as recording length, they typically record on a micro-sd or mini-sd card, but record on a loop, meaning once the card is full, then it starts to record over the oldest recorded part. Depending on the capacity of the card (8GB, 16GB, 32GB, etc) and the dash cam's resolution, they can record for anywhere from 8 hrs to 48 hrs, generally.
Price ranges from about $20 to $350 (USD) depending on brand and quality.
Example of price and quality extremes:
Unbranded Wide Angle DashCam (low end)
FineVu CR-500HD (high end)
There are tons of dash cam trucker's videos on YouTube, btw. Often they list what kind of dash cam they use.Last edited: Oct 23, 2013

ah, wrong place, hey? sorry about that. thanks for the links, kw. i'll go check out the electronics section. b&g ... lol. yeah, i guess if i did something wrong, it could work against me, but even if it did record something i did wrong, it would be an accurate account, not exaggerated (sp?) eye witness accounts.
blairandgretchen Thanks this. -

We are getting 1 asap, wish we already had one . because Tuesday this week we loaded an oversize and was going to stop in Hammond, La, well Baton Rouge was backed up 6 miles before and after the I-110 split sat on the bridge for 30 min at least. so we knew we had to find a closer stopping point, got to exit 10 on I-12 at the Pilot, no parking, bass pro was a no, sams club a no, had no choice but to seek a safe haven parking area, needless to say the Hammond scale let us park there us and 2 more over size after saying we was not telling the truth and giving us all tickets, we will be going back to fight this. my wife did take some video with her camera while on the bridge. wish us luck
