salad the extra stop pay is worth roughly 100 miles of driving.so if they handle you with the extra stop in about an hour and 40 minutes or less you're ahead of the game you got paid for sitting...sitting for 2 days to deliver now that sucks. you gotta raise hell with your manager

I am contemplating coming back to Conway. I'm curious as to how many company drivers are issued those miserable trucks that have temperature regulators controlling the drivers ability to idle their truck. Honestly, that's a deal breaker for me. I'be lucked out so far on getting trucks.
Currently leasing and I just upgraded to a 2016 t680 KW. Luxury with an apu and refrigerator. My fixed expenses and lease cost went up and I took a substantial cut in pay. Now making less than I did as a company driver. Still if there's even a remote chance of getting a p.o.s. truck that is idle regulated, I'll take a pay cut and stay where I'm at. -
Not worth it for this one. I had 4(6 all together) extra stops spread over 3 days.
First stop was in Darby, took 2.5 hours to pick up 6 pallets. 0500 Day 1
Second Stop was in Camden, took 5 hours to pick up because someone didn't show up. 1100 Day 1 (took a 10 here since the place was empty and I'd already had 5 hours off the clock)
Third stop was in Camden also, took about 10 minutes to pick up. 0700 Day 2
Fourth Stop was in Camden also, took 2 hours. 0900 Day 2, took another break because next pickup.
Fifth Stop was in Oaklyn, took 30 minutes 1200 Day 3
Sixth Stop was in Chester PA, took maybe an hour. 1600 Day 3
Tooooooooooo, drumroll ALLENTOWN. Not a very long trip. And then I had to wait until day 5(monday) to deliver. I did raise hell, trust me. It was the first time I'd had to call in about something and I started the calls on Day 1 when I got the plan. They just made the normal excuses. If I'd been anywhere near home....
All in all I got payed about 130 miles. And I got 4x35$. 5 days of my life. I came about 2 taps of the Quallcomm away from sending in a 2 week notice. I've already stripped most of my stuff out of the truck, I could fit everything except my el-cheapo crockpot and microwave in to a single small duffle, and I'd leave the pot and microwave without a care given.Keeker Thanks this. -

Part of mine was picking up a student in an area little freight goes thru.
-
Reason number 7 or 8 or whatever i rejected the offer too train students. Not saying its bad but....I like too have my freedom my home time and the open road. I've been asked a few times too start training but it just wouldn't work for me. Besides I'm going owner op soon maybe mid next year too early 2017. We'll see.
