My dad and I are talking about teaming up with a otr company. We're hoping to find one that does paper logs cause of the fact that we've only done outlaw driving. I've got about 18 months experience where I've averaged about 4k miles a week. He's got almost 30 years experience. And he's telling me we need to team up cause the bring home money will be about the same as what he makes as a owner operator without the headaches. What are some good company's that give long distance hauls. With decent CPM and detention time that doesn't take 5 hours to earn $20. Any advice from company drivers will be greatly appreciated.

You should get on with a legit company. Old Dominion if money is what you seek. Speak with @blairandgretchen. Wife and I have been at USX for three years and are very happy.
Jared89 and Florida Playboy Thank this. -
At Old Dominion you can run legal and make more than you will running outlaw.
It's hard to run legal after years of running two logs because you feel like a wuss; but believe me, it's not that bad.Ougigoug and horsecrazychic22 Thank this. -

You have to run over 6000 a week to run out of hours as a team, especially if your an experienced team. And if you run coast to coast, then right back, your going to want to sit and rest, shower, and generally F/O for a day anyway. Why not just lease onto Landstar or someone like that, and do it legit, and make a bazillion dollars? When I teamed, the only time we ever reset was when we were bumping 6000. 6000 is an ### load of miles in a week.

Newbie here... Must be more to "Running Outlaw" than creative logging of HOS... As a team you can legally run round the clock right? And everyone, outlaw or legal, needs to stop for fuel, food, and a pit stop now and then.

Well no, not necessarily pit stops. I've been part of some truly cruel and unusual air freight runs, where you literally run through the truck stop, dump some food in a box, and didi mau. Oh yea, there's some coast to coast, and 2K mile runs with like a whopping 4 or 5 hours of fluff in them. And that's at dispatch, before the shipper doesn't have it ready, or it doesn't weigh. Before the 3 hour back up, and rush hour at a major city or two.
