I appreciate all the help and informative thread here. I've decided to go with JS Helwig. 5miles from my house! After last night getting woke up by 10 phone calls telling me to leave and go pick up i was done. I just came off a 1.5 day 1400 mile 4 stop load. WTF. Never again will I work for a Chicago Euro trash outfit.

 

Which company were you with? just curious..just got off the phone with Kevin here at GP, they're getting me a rental car so I can bring my stuff with me...all the way from Cali! Looking forward to being a part of a small company/family for a change!

 

Im currently at great plains I love it past two weeks I ran coast to coast last load whas from ontario oregon to hartford Connecticut

 

You'll like Helwig. Only reason I didn't start back up with them is they stopped running west. But it seems now they may be doing a little California since I saw one out there a month or so ago.

 

I tried applying to helwig a couple of years ago but found out they didn't hire out of new yawk. Currently running my butt off last week and a half, got out of the house near end of April, ran PA to California, then from California to 3 drop in Wisconsin, then to Texas. I guess things are picking up a little. The only flies in the ointment right now is trying to get routed through the yard since my truck is way overdue for maintenance, and then I have the ever-dreaded DOT physical coming this month.

 

JS Helwig does 2-3 meat loads a week into Syracuse and 2-3 loads a week into Binghamton . But that's about all the upstate New York they do. But I'm a bit surprised they didn't hire from NY then.

I applied with GP over the weekend and talked to Kevin (IIRC) today. Sounds pretty good to me.

I'm currently with a private fleet (manufacturer with trucks), but giving notice as soon as I line something up.

The big attractors for me are true long hauls and being left alone to do my job. I hate hand holding. Lol

 

You will like this place then I just had a load from Oregon to Connecticut
