Care to define "those People." If you mean those who can think? Then, yes, I am.
I think, If I'm stuck in that kind of jam, why not take the break....use the time to extend my clocks if i can. Nothing illegal about it. The log doesn't know where you are. Just that you took your break.
Wow what do you do in this situation?

Read paragraph B of the section he linked. -
A shut down Interstate is deemed an emergency. Shut down due to a crash. If you are stopped and cannot move.....set brakes.....on duty not driving and flag the initial closure. Indicate much info as you can. Then get to where you can stop. That simple.
I had that happen to me. MODOT saw my logs the next day and had no issue with it and said I logged it correctly.
PS. Doesn't matter if the traffic creeps after you log off duty and you drive at a crawl once and a while. Your still covered. Interstate movement stopped is an emergency.
This does not include you driving into weather and planning poorly. This was made clear to me lol.brian991219 Thanks this. -

Used the adverse conditions exemption in indy just the other day due to all routes having an accident on them in the rain. Pretty much shutting any way out of there down for a while. Made it to where I was planning on stopping without violation on the elog my normal 11 ran out 30 minutes before I got to my destination which I would have normally made with 90 left on my clock in any usual day

Always remember you do what's safe. E-logs, if the accident the issue like this you just find a safe haven...Yeah it's going to scream at you, but shutting down on the shoulder is not a safe option. Just keep your dispatcher and logs dept informed...even if you do paper logs, they can still get you if audited. By law you have I be live 1 if not 2 hrs to get to a safe haven. I know a case one time a driver got a police escort when his hours ran out to the nearest truck stop/safe haven. No ticket, no charge for the escort. Hey it's never a perfect moment in a situation like this. By the way your suppose to keep paper logs in your truck in case the Quail Com craps out.

Here is what happened today. Went to shipper and load wasn't ready. Waited 5 hours. Took a decent nap. Finally loaded and headed out. Ran out of hrs 1.5 hrs from my house which was on the way home. Sitting in Faucett MO (Farris truckstop) as I type this.
This is complete BS. Loosing so much time I can't get back. Took a real decent nap....etc. But the infamous clock just keeps going. Such crap.
