    What did you want him to do? Drive with the overweight load and get nailed at the weight station, drivers like you do anything unsafe and illegal to keep a job and earn trust from your dm not to offense though.

    A BOL is a legally binding document, as I'm sure everybody here knows. If one has a CAT scale ticket showing a tare weight of 30k with full tanks, I see no reason why he couldn't take on a load billed at 49k on the BOL if the axle weights all work out. Why would anyone think otherwise?

    And if it turns out after that you're STILL over gross AND got a ticket for it, it's lawsuit time.

    If you CHOOSE to do that, that's fine.

    What I have a problem with is it being EXPECTED that someone else do it because "that" guy does it. That's crap.

    I would've dropped that load in the dock until it was reworked
    And told the company pay me detention or I'm going home
    .... This is not welfare, why would a driver be expected to do anything free ?

    I don't have a problem with expecting a driver to be smart enough not to top off their tanks before going to the shipper for a known heavy load. Especially a Friday load where you might lose the whole weekend because the dock crew wants to go home early. Sometimes the driver needs to think about 'if I do this, this this or that might happen'.

    The problem with heavy pallets in the 6 foot area and a near gross load is bridge law. I can't think of a situation where I was ever able to be legal weight wise and also be legal bridge law wise with pallets in the 6 foot area. I have lost count of the times I had to either violate bridge law or be over on weight on that trailer tandem. Fuel even in the reefer tanks won't help you on this much. For the most part that last 6 foot on a 53 foot trailer is unusable. After a while you get used to this and just start keeping it clear.

    I'm not seeing why any driver should be aggravated with being limited to 5/8 or whatever capacity worth of fuel for the convenience of any shipper. Not worth the trouble, IMO.
