rabbiporkchop Thanks this. -
Well...apparently he's not robbing "brokered" drivers on his Logistics side to keep his own 3 trucks going on the Trucking side: http://safersys.org/query.asp?searc...ery_string=2328838&original_query_string=JACK TRAVIS TRUCKING LLC
Horrible numbers generated by horrible equipment. -

I worked for this guy, and he is a scumbag. I asked to take an emergency day off and refused to give it to me. I then explained to him that I would not be coming in. He verbally attacked me over the phone, and I told him that I would be putting in my immediate voluntary termination of employment immediately. He withheld my last paycheck and $250 for abandoning a load that i docked on his property, and says that he lost revenue for not coming in to deliver. I took him to the labor board and won all of my money. I also reported his piece of crap equipment to DOT...I heard he got inspected
too bad he still has 1 truck in service lmao

I had a bad experience with Richard and this company. It seemed like a perfect fit when i came aboard. On my first day He dispatched me on one of his paper loads to Prewitt, NM. After waiting what seemed like an hour getting the load to NM, Richard called me and informed me there was no return load back to Phoenix and he was sending me to SLC instead, I dropped that load in his new yard and picked up the load going to the Costco DC there in SLC, delivering the next day at 11am. He said the backhaul was at the Morton salt facility in Grantsville UT picking up the same day at 9pm.
I had been up since 4am and decided to shut down at 730pm at the TA in Parowan. To be fair, I had about 1:15 drive time available but I was nodding off and I didn't know what parking was available ahead. I couldnt have made it much farther as the truck was grossing 70k+ pounds and the truck had a gutless DD13 engine, so the truck would slow down to 40-45 mph on the slightest incline and any steeper grade the truck would slow down to about 25-30.
I had sent him a text thanking him for the opportunity. He said, “youre welcome,” and asked “hows it going,” and I said it looked as if Id be 2-3 hours early. He replied asking me if I timed it so I could make the pickup, I said the load will get picked up, but didnt mention I was going to do a split sleeper berth. He then told me I shut down too early and I told him that I was tired having been up since 4am, that I was nodding off and my concerns for parking ahead due to the time of day. He wasn't hearing that.
The split sleeper berth plan didnt work out and he had me drive over there hoping they would load early. Not only did they not load early they dont have any parking on site, so the only option to getting on time pick up was to park on the shoulder outside the facility and creep in to get loaded and creep out to park and finish my break.
The next morning all he could do was badger me continuously, talking about how he was losing money because I was going to have to take an additional 10 hour break. Never mind that I told him I had been up since 4am 2 days prior and he set me up on a trip with unreasonable expectations, all he could do is throw me under the bus, saying he wasn't impressed, that I was all talk but was going to give me another shot. I interrupted him saying I heard enough and we can part ways when I get back.
I was supposed to shut down in Wickenburg AZ on the way back but I ultimately logged off his ELD and I drove all the way back to Phoenix in one shot. I wasnt going to spend another night in his smelly, janky truck. He also shorted me the miles from Wickenburg to Phoenix and the miles from his yard to the original pickup and back, about $70 in miles. Its all good though, I ended up taking a home daily job with an $1800-$2200 a week income opportunity driving a 2019 iShift Volvo day cab.
Way to set up a brand new driver. Richard is not reasonable or realistic.Last edited: Jul 21, 2019
