Here now, you re right about no parking signs. I am parked on street with 7-8 other trucks. Don't look bad in pic with only one truck at dock but it is full and will be when I dock. As always I will get in, just thought it was an odd layout. I've also seen worse in bay area and la. There's a place where we pickup burritos in la that may be the tightest dock I've been in.

The one with the dock off the street where you have your nose in traffic and have to drop?

That's the one. First time I picked up there a school next door had just let out and people were using that street to pick up kids. Young kids and cars everywhere, it was loads of fun getting in

We have a meat drop down near skid row deep in LA, one lane one way streets with cars on all sides, dock off street, blind side only, load directions say the unloader will guide you in and just listen to him. About lost my mind getting down there. It holds the tight dock record for me currently...

Do our APU's heat up the coolant and keep the batteries charged in winter?

They keep your batteries charged regardless what setting it's on....Unless completely off.

Don't know if you have the closed loop or not in APU for the coolant, but even if it's tied in to the truck coolant, the answer week be NO.

The only coolant that will be heated is the coolant in your APU and the lines leading to the truck's radiator. That little water pump CANNOT push 12+ gallons of coolant thru trucks coolant system.

I thought the big selling point of these APU's over the years was that they keep the coolant or engine oil warm in deep freeze weather.. I can live with it ifi it doesn't, mostly was wondering about the batteries.

You keep saying that and even from the TK's website...

Arctic Package (073025) Monitors tractor engine coolant temperature and automatically starts the TriPac Evolution to heat the shared engine coolant. Reduces cold weather starting issues for the tractor even after extended periods of no operation in cold temperatures.

Even then, its not maintaining the coolant at "Operating" temp. It just keeps it between 35 and 55 degrees F, so its not a rock cold engine. All the "Arctic Package" is is a tube with temp sensors that sits on the inlet side of the APU coolant return from the big engine. Once it hits 35, it cuts the APU on until the temp hits 55 then it shuts the APU off.

And its going directly to the big engine, not to the radiator.

Hot coolant enters the tractor’s engine block through an INLET fitting typically located near the water pump. • Hot coolant circulates through the tractor’s engine block and exits an OUTLET fitting typically used for the heater, returning to the APU engine.
