I wonder how hung over my customers will be. I deliver in McCook, pick up in Chicago...I have a feeling in the pit of my stomach that this isn't going to be a good day.

That's if chicago is still there. Might be giant pile of smoldering embers when you arriveRMU91 Thanks this.

I hope it is for a few more hours at least. After my delivery in Duluth, Nick has me routed to Park Rapids to pick up a TX load, and my buddy is looking for a FL load out of TX, but I have to pick up in Chicago to start it all off.RMU91 Thanks this.

Showed up at 0800 for my 1000 appt in Chicago. They put me right in a door. I backed in, then started my unloading on duty clock. The guy handed me the signed papers in 4 minutes. Wow! Super nice people here, too.
Now, unfortunately I don't have a load yet. Extremely rare occasion for me. I think this happened one other time where I waited 1 hour for my next load. Pretty good record, in my opinion! So I wait...
I did contact dispatch 2 days ago, and again this morning. I guess there's nothing for me yet.
Despite not having a load, the commute here from the Gary, IN Pilot went very smooth (took about 1 hr 15 min to get here), the weather is overcast but nice, along with the unload going so fast, and my coffee kicking in, I'm in a great mood lol -
Always answer when Nick calls...DustMyBroom Thanks this.

Freight must be slowing down to a crawl already...
I contacted Jeremy five days ago when I was dispatched for the east coast from Cavendish in Jamestown, and this is day 2 of my waiting period for another assignment.
I must have really aggravated somebody... -
If I sat like that without a call...someone's ears in Fargo might stop ringing sometime next week after I got done expressing my displeasure.RMU91 Thanks this.

I agree...if you miss a call from St. Nick, you miss the gift of better freight choices...he's like Santa. He always has a gift, sometimes it's like a new home entertainment center for your man cave, other times it's like socks and undies from your grandma...just depends on how early you talk to him.RMU91 Thanks this.

Well ####. I'm just sitting here at the customer waiting. Maybe I should drive the hour back to Pilot.RMU91 Thanks this.

Where, exactly, are you sitting?
When I sat at a Receiver's Staging Area in Chicago two weeks ago, I was kindly asked to leave the premises after three hours... I left, but I didn't drive an hour to the Pilot in Gary. Instead, I googled an empty lot. Then, I talked with a local driver before I left, and he suggested the service area on 294. They are mostly empty this time of day.
