-I have a load to Oregon.
-No, it's snowing.
-Well then I have a load to NJ.
-ew, No.
-I have a load to Dallas.
-Too tight. I'm not driving at night.
-there's a pickup in Minnesota with 3 drops in Georgia.
-what? Multiple drops? Hell no!
-Ok, well I have a load from Minnesota to Jamestown, nd. It picks up in 3 days and you've got 4 days to get it there. You can't deliver early.
-What? That's ########! Don't you have any good loads for me? This company sucks! What a #####! I need more miles! I guess I'm forced to take the Jamestown load!
"Hey everybody! Come listen how horrible dispatch is over here!"
Hehehe

Same stuff would happen back in aus. Guys would complain they couldn't get loads from the brokers and the brokers would only give them local stuff in the state. Yet they would turn down loads doing interstate because they didn't think that 14 hours for a 12 hour drive was enough...
I would quite happily take it. Get there unhook both trailers on the docks then got bed. Not only get paid for the load but then get paid for the 8 hours it would take them to unload and check the load (I would be sleeping) wake up in the morning eat breakfast in their canteen for free. Go to the office for paperwork to be asked if I can hang around for another 3 hours while they load the trailers for a return run. (Normally run back empty) so double up the money plus more wait time. Head back to Sydney for a delivery 14 hours later...
While old mate is still complaining cause he didn't want to do the 12 hour drive but doesn't get any loads that pay...cdavis188, Pigbacon, truckerman75103 and 2 others Thank this. -
Apparently someone went out of their way to mess with my trailer. One pin wasn't retracting when I tried to slide my tandems. I crawled under the trailer and it was detached from the pneumatic arm that pulls it in. The weird thing is the bolt that connects them and the wire that keeps the bolt from falling out were in place, like someone pulled the wire out, detached the am and put the wire back in.

Went to church yesterday and left the house shortly after. Got up here to Menmonie and going to see if I can drop this load early at the yard or customer so I can keep moving.
truckerman75103 and Crusader66 Thank this. -
Supersnackbar, as I've said before, I don't know you well enough to speculate on all the reasons Magnum was a bad fit for you. I can however imagine myself in the shoes of corporate and how they might feel about a driver who spends literally months on here bad mouthing the company and proclaiming they are quitting. I'm not saying you had no legitimate gripes. I just don't think you did yourself any favors by pushing the negativity as far as you have. Just my $.02
I think ncmickey and I have come across the same drivers because one thing I've noticed after talking to other Magnum drivers who tell me they aren't happy with the company or their miles, many of them have a list of things they refuse to do. "I refuse to go to that city", "I refuse to go to that shipper", "I refuse to do multi stops", "Dispatch better not _______", etc.. I'm not saying any of these apply to you, ssb. I'm just saying it's an observation I've made. There are many things I don't like, but none I refuse to ever do. I'll even go to NJ if they need me to. -

You guys are beating a beyond dead horse here. I do agree that it's past time to move on however. Just don't bother replying to these negative Magnum posts if it hurts that bad. Just my .02 from a distance.
Crusader66, Xeres63 and mattbh23 Thank this. -
As far as loads and where I go...@radioshark is on the money. I can't count the number of times I have 'fallen on the sword' and covered a crappy load in the name of customer service. But that becomes "we have this crappy load, this crappier load, or this load load you'll need Preparation H for" as a regular choice. It wasn't until I had talked to management about my 2nd $.01 rate cut, and the response I got after the last trimester evaluation, that I decided to start being selective. I was given the penny back, but when I asked to see what could be done to stabilize my miles so I don't have to call about any more pay cuts...the reply was "you're not doing all that bad!"...WTF? I am doing bad enough to get a pay cut, but that's considered "not that bad"? I was also told that it would be looked into, and see what could be done...and the following month my miles dropped from the mid-9000's into the 8000's. I got the hint after that and decided to be a bit more pickey about my loads...I'm leaving anyway, so what could it hurt.Crusader66, mattbh23, 4mer trucker and 1 other person Thank this.
