It's not like the older units that went to high speed and and stayed there for awhile ...these things will jump up to high speed and just as quickly drop back to low speed again and no rime or reason for it ....they are brand new units .
What's up with these new carrier units ?

I haven't pulled any 2017 units yet and have not seen one run like that in our newer fleet. Sounds like this may be an effect of the new system mentioned a few posts earlier.

Even when I'm driving 70 miles an hour down the road I can tell when the reefer goes into high extreme idle.

Are the new Carrier units still with that super low frequency noise in heat mode that rattles the sleeper and resonates through to scramble your brain?

Very fuel efficient units ! I ran it on continues for 55 hours with temp set at 26 and ambient temp around 38 ..it used 15.9 gals of fuel.

Being belt driven it's dependent on settings. High air flow. If the load is too high or air shoots installed to tight can play a key also why the unit is trying to move more air.

Units should be off anyways whenever the trailer doors are open. It's the first question I always ask when dealing with a call out for an alarm. Follow up question is, have you done a manual defrost or has the unit ran through a defrost on its own. Usually the case.

Yeah they seem to Rev up after the first few seconds when it cuts back on when not set to continuous. They need to program them to not auto defrost when the doors are open.
