Last year Progressive quoted me 20K a year. I thought it was their way of telling me "Mister, go somewhere else.." which I found rude. But this is more than rude, it is vulgar and obscene, they tell you GTFO. Rude they are!

You're getting absolutely raped. Had my CDL 4 years, clean record, good credit and got 8k all in for the first year through Great West.JimmyWells and Annonymous Thank this.

Well it is certainly a parent that my quote is astronomically outrageous and unacceptable.... There is something wrong with the quote I don't know what would make it be so astronomically high from Progressive. Now I do have a forgery felony from 2005 but that's 12 years ago. I did have a divorce that hit my credit pretty hard. And I do have 3 points on my CSA for Aloe air pressure on my trailer tire. But I mean 4 the quote to be five or six times more expensive that everybody else is that can't justify that especially with older equipment. I'm going to be calling after the 4th of July cuz I'm sure everybody's going to be closed now on the weekend through the holiday and I will post my findings with at least two or three other insurance companies and hopefully it's just Progressive.

You are absolutely 100% correct I agree with you without a doubt based on all these comments I will be looking into it much further and posting my results
-
Well that's a total 180 degrees difference then from what I'm being quoted and it's sickening really.
-
Let me ask you guys something what companies do you guys recommend for new independent owner-operators?
-
Sure. Progressive for some reason, is not an option for new entrants with liability for 1 million. It also depends on what market you are based out of. Wesco, Great American, Northland, Berkshire Hathaway, Nico were mentioned to me as an option in Illinois.Last edited: Jul 1, 2017
Annonymous Thanks this. -
Progressive is a high risk insurance provider and one of the very few who will take new CDL holder's / new DOT #'s. In your case since you have some experience I would shop around. Unfortunately most I checked with required 2 years. Great West required 2 years but worked with other carriers who could possible supply coverage.
In my case $16,000 was about what I expected with the equipment value and my experience.Annonymous Thanks this. -
When you agreed to the $60,000 premium the insurance broker was probably kicking themselves for not making it an even $100,000 premium.
danny23tx, Annonymous and whoopNride Thank this.
