My nephew is less than a year old, the doctors office stated this baby needed some ungodly amount of injections, enough to kill a horse. Even in the service this ####tail would be illegal in my day. And I was a Navy Corpsman.

I believe at least speaking from my personal experience a big factor in the driver shortage is because of a lot of these companies lying to new drivers they tell them anything they want to hear just to get them to sign on the dotted line. During your first week you realize that they pimped you and everything they promised you during the interview was a lie. I believe they should just tell you flat out what is and let you make your own decision if it's for you or not that way if you like it you will be more inclined to stay with the company.back street slider and Justrucking2 Thank this.

I agree but the honesty won't get them as many fresh batteries as they need to keep their machine running at top dollar. Even if fresh meat only makes it a few weeks, they still profit.back street slider Thanks this.

Sad but true that's how business works if you work one week they made profit for the whole month off you they don't care if you leave or not especially with automatics taking over its a lot less of a learning curve so they can fill those seats a lot faster.DSK333 Thanks this.

So many of that trash has been linked to issues like Autism, Parkinson's and Alzheimer's too.

I believe it. I was a registered nurse for a very short time. Seen it first hand. One baby died right on the spot as soon as the injection was complete.DSK333 Thanks this.

They still make Right Guard as a spray deodorant.Still has the classic scent too, love it.

With the new tax laws hitting the employees that have to live out here, a good incentive would be not having to pay income tax. Let the consumer, shipper and receiver eat it.

What about o/o getting a tax break? Repairs cost thousands of dollars and fuel is nearly $4 a gallon in some states it is $4+ now.

I looked up a company that seemed to have a reasonable offer for a dedicated route, and saw that they were hiring folks from South Africa to come in as student drivers. They even had those guys posting the company Facebook page. While there are some societal issues there that benefit those guys and gals, the overall issue that screamed out "problems" is that they had to resort to bringing in folks from overseas to seat their trucks, and the issues that prompted that were found in the consistency of complaints on the Glassdoor page and the indeed page. The typical response was "owner freaks out and flies into a rage. Screams at the office staff and fires someone publicly. Always walking on eggshells and morale sucks. I quit after 3 months. Would rather be unemployed than work here". Like I said, things like that were posted consistently from their home office. Similar stuff from their other terminals. So, why pay for visas to bring in people from Africa? You get to lord their visa over their heads while you force them to work in a poor company culture and for poor pay in an unfamiliar country. I saw that in Iraq. The Hindi drivers couldn't quit because they had to hand over their passport and visa to the employer until their contract was fulfilled. They couldn't even quit because they would be tossed out into the Iraqi wilderness without their papers and obviously killed before the day was over. Clearly they wouldn't be killed by roving bands of militia in most places here, but that's a way to ensure that the drivers have their backs against the wall when you don't have enough decency to treat people with respect and pay them fairly for their work.
