Payback is a ######. We didn't hate the Germans near as much as the English did for the civilian bombings with the V1 and 2. Harris vowed to bomb them to ashes. Dresden had no military targets but was ruined.

I think it was either colonge or Hamburg that was not just burned but turned into a cremating firestorm that lasted several days at temperatures hot enough to essentially reduce anyone caught in it, living or dead to ashes. Anyone trying to get away a few blocks away found themselves lifted off the feet and carried into the fire by the inflow winds raging at 200 or faster down the streets towards the firestorm core that got bigger.

There is a english television program from the 50's that describes in what we would call graphic detail today about what to expect post nuclear attack in places like Manchester etc during firestorms. You tube might still have it.

We have firestorms in progress out west but our Media does nothing to get graphic about it or use it to teach many people the risks of being around them.

You are right we did not hate the germans, we hated the government that was installed against them. And certain military units such as the Waffen SS that pretty much earned a instant execution by bullet to any captured with insignia of same on them.

The SS started it by executing our prisoners. After that it was anything goes. When we used incendiaries against Tokyo instead of high altitude bombing, over 100,000 people died, more than in either nuclear blast.

In my experience, they want you to take loads, but if there is a real reason for you to not take a load, they respect that.

When I worked OTR with them, I refused several loads, but never a load I could deliver safely, and on time.

It is, however, company policy that if you are a regional driver, and are sent a out-of-region load, you can refuse it solely on the grounds that it is outside your region.

I don’t refuse anything except if I can’t make appt. A good driver is an employed driver.

I wouldn't refuse a load because you couldn't make the appt., just don't accept it until they know and acknowledge it and are working on a relay with another driver enroute or getting a rescheduled appt.

They thank me a lot. It’s weird to me. I’m just keeping the left door shut and picking up n delivering on time.
I like the trucks!! I’m getting used to the turtle race, 65 and stay alive. I was firm on what I wanted and there’s no compromise. Freightliner (don’t care what year or standard or auto) but I wanted a double bunk. Why?? Because I like the extra room. Mine is a 2016 with 383,000 miles on it. But I actually like my little red truck. All the 2016 have a huge inverter in them. I swear you could plug in a AC unit. My opti idle works great too.

I like Freightliner too. My dusty elephant in the shop again today though, not very well maintained. I'm strongly considering switching to Crete if they'll have me. But I want it to be my last switch for some years so trying to do my homework.

    Slomosion and Zer0chick Thank this.
