I have older Tripac apu, love it. I had it on the truck when I bought truck. Definitely best investment imo. It keeps batteries charged while Im away or using inverter to cook my meals. I do my own maintenance, fuel, oil filters and oil. Costs me under $100 for it all.

    This is what I use.
No lead cords as it’s wired to a heavy duty power strip behind the passenger seat
I also have an ac window unit that slides on to a window bracket.
It take less then five minutes to fire up and runs all night long on one tank of gas.

I love my carrier other than its noisy compared to a tk and if you program the comfort monitor it will cycle on off just like a tk .
But units have they're good and bad points.

One way around that high heat cycle on the carrier with no power for hotel loads is to use a small electric heater ....I have a polonis that will cook you out even in extreme cold ....I also will use the bunk and cab blower moters on low if I want more heat .
When I go to bed I switch the unit over to comfort monitor which will cycle the engine on and off ....this is this only time I ever use the the apu heater .

    Buckeyes614 Thanks this.

    Thanks.
I built the box myself with everything purchased at my local tractor supply.
The frame brackets I also made myself with steel purchased at my local tractor and implement dealership.

If you run a generator look at converter chargers(rv supply’s) they are what the custom sleeper mfg use. My generator doesn’t have a alternator on it(one less problem)
The number one reason for a apu is comfort so is reason 2,3 and4.
It is kind of dumb to run a 500 hp motor for heat and air.

This is what I have, if it quit today I would have one ordered first thing in the am.

That Parks unit seems pretty nice, but a 600 hour maintenance interval and heat pump heating operation bother me a bit.

600 hours of operation between service means a good bit more money and/or time sunk into the maintenance of the device.

Heat pump style heating means that at temperatures below 0F, the ability of the unit to provide heat will be very limited. Heat pumps do not do well at low temperatures. I do not see mention of heat strip backups for low temperature operations.

Still, I do carry a heavy sheepskin blanket. Might still be worth it for that fuel efficiency.
