Correct. And, honestly, that surprises me. Lots of friction going on in those gearboxes. I am surprised there aren't at least simple particle traps like I have had in most of my personal vehicle transmissions. At least in the transmission.

If you ever take one apart your see why. They would plug up in no time with filings and flakes.

The filter I had in my Firebird transmission was almost like a rectangular air filter. Even if it filled up with junk, the transmission fluid could bypass it.

That was what I was expecting.

    Ok, YTD mid-year numbers.

5.5 months, due to starting mid-January.

    Total revenue: 84,128.

    Variable expenses: 45,493.

    Fixed expenses: 11,388.
(This does not include medical or cash advances)

Income comparable to company driver income: 27,247

That income is for 24/52 of the year.

Estimated gross driving income after truck expenses: $59,035.

I have sent the Fed 3k per quarter and state 1k per quarter. I have 2k in my tax stash building for next quarter.

June was a bad month, by any standards. July, however, was very good.

We shall see what the next profit and loss statement brings.

I am away from the truck so I cannot provide total miles. They don't look quite right either.

    Per June Profit & Loss.

Paid loaded miles YTD was 59,714
Paid empty miles YTD was 3,152

I estimate around 1,000 or so PC miles YTD.

Total miles as of the end of June, @63866.

This number feels low-ish though. I know my total miles for the year are at around 87,000 for all miles. That would mean that (if that @64k number is right) in July and the first few days of August I drove 23,000 miles. 5 weeks, 23k miles? Not.

I may have had a long California load end on July 1st or something though. I would need to look at my load book. (In the truck.)

Well. Woke up this AM to a steer tire at 73 lbs. Pumped it up, Windexxed it, and found a pinhole leak on the middle of the tread. Apparently I picked up a nail.

95k+ miles on the steers, so I decided to replace both rather than try to patch one and hope it holds, or replace one, and run on mismatched tread depths.

Since I refuse to touch my maintenance account (It is a truck payoff account) I get to pay full price for it. I will get something back for the undamaged steer though. A little anyway.

Will update the price after I shut down for the day. I will be running hard as soon as I get out of the shop.

I don't think steers are legal to repair anyways.

But if it were me. I'd be packing a plug kit and air hose.

I’d keep that front tire. Do you carry a tire behind your cab? It can be used as a steer or drive tire next time your in a bind.

There's nothing wrong with patching a nail hole in the middle of the tread. I worked for Goodyear and patched hundreds if not thousands of tires. Waste of money IMO.
