To be clear, this is a carrier mandate, not an individual one. It is the carrier's responsibility to run pre-employment / annuals. A limited result will appear for an unregistered driver while a full result will appear for a driver who has registered and signed away hippa rights for an employer to see test results.

So,I was just talking with our safety lady, and she said that out of the 6 people they have hired since this started, only 1 of the Clearinghouse checks have gone through so far. It just keeps saying "there are no queries" when the drivers log in...

I think the website crashing was just the beginning of the headaches.

But after reading through here - its just a national database that collects all DOT drug and alcohol testing results since DAC was never mandatory. There were hundreds of thousands of companies that a driver could fail a drug test on and none one would know because they never had to report it anywhere. So all a driver would have to do is say "I was unemployed during this time" and there was no way to check if it was a failed drug screen or not.

This reminds me of something similar, not in trucking but in the video game industry. Diablo 3 and the recent Sims city game are the more well known examples of this; always online DRM. Every time a game releases that uses always online DRM, the game is ussually unplayable for the first week or two after release, because the online servers are overloaded with login requests.
Seems like this is the trucking version of always online DRM in that sense.

i was under the impression, like others, there already reporting systems like, mv, dac, psp, dot..i just never stress about drug testing, it's part of the job....i found out exactly cuz i seek new hire, no problem i'll do it...
whatz got my attention, can ya actually regulate, legislate, mandate, etc. ethics, sanity, integrity, etc......they started sending folx to prison for drunk driving, they still drive drunk, etc.... some dont need to be drunk to drive unsafe, aggressive, etc....tha irresponsible drivers are concerned about not getting caught, than safety......we all see it, from speeding, cut offs, slamming brakes, tail gating, etc from all drivers....it appears tha more regulations,etc... the more driver antagonism, aggressiveness we seem to get.... hos, drugs/alcohol, are just part of many problems in trucking industry, and general motor vehicle safety......it wouldn't be hard to find more critical thinking here in these forums, than in legislature systems, lobbys, etc as to some quantitative improvement vs punitive, suffocating measures......well, let tha implosions begin, time will reveal all

How did you figure it out? I’m getting the same message. Our company has only one driver. My husband is the owner and the driver. Does he need to register as the driver first? I registered only as the employer.

It makes it more expensive for companies to hire and keep drivers, since companies need to pay a fee to access this bullcrap info. Plus drivers must consent to provide the needed info or not be allowed to drive in the U.S since every carrier must only hire drivers that consent. So its basically an increase in company costs to hire and retain drivers and violates a persons rights by having to consent even more just to have a job.

Its a law that costs companies even money to hire and/or keep drivers under the guise of safety. Nickel and diming carriers to death. Its a terrible law. It forces drivers to consent so govt can extort money from carriers by requiring carriers to pay a fee in order for the driver to be able to work. It really drives a wedge between driver and carrier. Say goodbye to the industry, get out while youre still ypung enough to do something else or live with the reduced wages, longer hours and worsening benefits. America is becoming communist.
