There's a lot of wisdom in the "book", and there is a HUGE difference between "knowing" what it says and "living" in a manner consistent with the guidance contained within its pages. It doesn't matter what text you are talking about...could be the Bible, the Constitution, or the FMCSA regulations...there will be those with the attitude that "it doesn't apply to ME" or that will take a few words or phrases and twist them around to justify their own personal agenda. Personally, I don't care WHERE a good piece of advice comes from, it doesn't change the fact that it is a good piece of advice. I almost added the Boy Scout slogan to "Do a good turn daily" to that post, and there's probably a hundred other quotes from a variety of sources across a wide spectrum of organizations, secular and religious alike, which would show the OP had not acted in a dignified and respectable manner, but where do you draw the line between getting your point across and beating a dead horse?

I for one hope I'm not ever in position financially so that I cant do the right thing... even though it doesn't cost anything.

 

Based on the decision making the op used in this situation its easy to see why they may have financial problems.

 

I must not be charging enough. The other week there was a truck at the end of the off ramp out of fuel, I gave the driver a ride a few miles up the road to get fuel. Then brought him back to his truck, primed his truck since he didn't know how.

Then had to go up the road to get turned around myself.... I charged 0, figured I could lose a few minutes of my day to make his better.

 

Well - I think we've done this one to death.

Trying to make a profit off someone's misfortune. Sad and pretty #### low.

 

Let's say a you're in the sleeper and a truck back into you, destroying your hood,lights and you're leaking coolant. By the time you get dress the driver is gone. But lucky somebody came up to u saying he catch it on video with the drivers face, company, and truck number. But oh wait he won't give it to you without something in return.....and let's say he doesn't want money......how would that make u feel.
